Flamewheel "Y" copter

No idea what I'm doing so I'll try my best. I took six DJI Flamewheel legs cut off the landing legs and machined down the arms where they attach to the 550 main frame. The lower motors have the props installed upside down to turn them into "pusher" props the tops ones are mounted normally. The control is a Naza lite with a Frsky receiver I had the V2 until it got a mind of it's own and flew off into the sunset with my 14 channel Futaba reciever. This configuration flies better than a Quad in my opinion and accelerates much faster, it's far more stable than a hex with this controller and even more stable than a quad and as a matter of fact it's more stable in this configuration than the hex with the V2 was. Flew it in a pretty gusty wind today and am quite pleased how well it performed so my work was not in vain. This wasn't a case of opening up packages and assembly it took a fair bit of altering the parts to make this work and to top it off it turned out better than I could have hoped for.View attachment 21740 View attachment 21741

nice build, great way to use what you have to build a y6
they sure are alot more tolerant in the wind at the expense of efficiency

so you drilled out the threads int he arms, and put a bolt all the way thru ?

Where is the landing gear from/made from ?

Thanks Mat I did drill the arms in pairs and matched the drilled arms to the plates they bolt to. The landing gear is made from wooden dowels and aviation plywood with little wooden pads underneath to make it stable on pavement. After some tuning I found the eight inch props to not be as responsive as I would like them to be so I switched over to ten inch props and it helped greatly. I set the gains to recommended but lowered the basic gains .04 and increased the altitude hold .02 hope this video works.
