F450 w/ Naza will not take off?

Hi,

I have successfully built my F450, rotation has been checked on all the motors and props (graupner 10x5 with 2 anticlockwise and 2 clockwise) they are all correct, the quadcopter DOES NOT flip on trying to take off it seems balanced. I have charged my 3s 5000mah lipo to full and calibrated my naza etc. When I try to take off it goes full power on all motors but stays stationary, its odd! I have set up the three mode switch on my TX for Attitude, failsafe and manual and tried taking off in 2 of the them (as failsafe won't arm obviously). I can't figure out why it will not take off..

Help would be appreciated,

It sounds like the some or all props are on backwards, or the props are in the wrong positions, double check paying attention not just to rotation of motor but that the props move air down not up.

Do this with everything off, dont get near the spinning props!

If ur props are on backwards. Which it sounds like. You should see some force pushing down on the arms. Sounds like this is the case.

It looks like the props are reversed, in the photo above.

Verify by turning each prop by hand, with battery disconnected of course. And look at how the prop cuts through the air.
 




Hi Henry, i am very new to this so I have been reading a lot but still my experience is very limited so take it as that. It does appear in the picture that the props may be on the wrong positions. Also you have to check the correct rotation for the motors. I have seen it done by removing the props and putting on a piece of tape making a small flag to make sure the motors are rotating in the correct direction. If they are not ready rotating in the correct direction switch any two leads on going to the ESC's

If they are spending the correct rotation then make sure the props have the tall side and spinning into the wind. Obviously be very careful of the props and make sure everything is correct before you try to fly again. The last thing you want to do is crash it trying to get off the ground the first time.

Hi Harry and welcome aboard!

Very important, make sure that the proper prop is installed on the proper motor. Look carefully at the prop and determine in which direction it has to turn to push the air backwards. Looking at the hub (center) the pitch angle is much more pronounce, so it is easy to determine. Once it is determine that your have a clockwise prop for example, it can ONLY go on clockwise turning motor which is mounted on the proper quad leg.

harry, do you have any washers on your props? The stock dji motors don't have enough thread to lock down graupners and they'll slip instead of spin.

That is not entirely correct. I have no washers on mine and i have no problems, i did however notice that a new engine i bought as a spare did need a washer. So not all motors need washers, they are made in batches which can be slightly different.

I have washers on the motors, I will test the rotation
