Two Raglan entrepreneurs are flying high after their aerial robots won a $15,000 prize package at Fieldays.

Droidworx directors Linda Bulk and Rob Brouwer walked out of the Fieldays Innovation Den with the package from business incubator Soda Inc, after winning the Most Viable Business award.

The pair design and assemble the helicopter-like remote-control flying machines and have developed the Ag Monster model for the rural market.

They come at a price with the airframes costing up to $3000 and the upgraded ready-to-fly model costing up to $25,000.

The robots can be fitted with cameras, sensors or spray tanks for selective spraying.

Ms Bulk said the win was "completely unexpected".

"Our warehouse manager entered us into this competition without us knowing it. That was only like a week and a half or two weeks ago, so it was a roller coaster," she said.

The award would give the business "a nudge forward" and put them in touch with experienced people to help take their product to the world.

"They've got this whole network on the marketing side and a whole network of investors, so they'll be connecting us up with all of that. "It's a great spring board to bringing these things to market."

She said the build-up to the Innovation Den was nerve-racking but a lot of fun.

"In the end it wasn't too bad because we were talking about our products. They're our babies and we're passionate about them. We love them."

The pair have been making the aerial robots for three years.

A former pilot, Mr Brouwer was the brains behind the design and Ms Bulk said the Ag Monster had a lot of potential in the rural sector.

"It was the first product in this market, professional grade, and we've been running ever since.
