Do you guys balance your motors?

Debating if I should do it during the rebuild. Saw a vid on youtube where a guy just moves a piece of tape around on the motor until the vibes decrease using a vibration app then he adds tape to that spot till their just about gone. Didn't look to hard.

I've also seen people attach a tie wrap and rotate the head around to find the light side. Seems easier than moving a piece of tape.

I don't bother, buy decent quality motors and just use them. The balance goes out the window the first time you crash them anyway and it really doesn't make enough of a difference to be worth the time and effort IMO. If you find that balancing a set of motors makes a very noticeable difference you're either buying cheap really crappy motors or have other problems that need to be addressed.

Get a good set of props and spend the time to properly balance those, you get a far bigger return for the time invested.

THis can be done with very very bad motors..! With good motors you cant do that..!

RTRyder what you mean by good motors..! T-motors are good or not??

The guys using the zip ties don't leave the thing on there. LOL They use the 'knot' of the tie wrap to find the place to add weight, THEN they start adding tape.

And ya, I would have thought T-motors would be good to go. Here's a guy balancing t-motors with tape:

At this point I don't know who to believe on this one and that usually means I need to test it myself.

How does he use zip ties to find where to add weight?

Im thinking he might use the connected part to see what part of the motor needs the weight by spinning it around while zipped shut (with the excess) cut off. Then marking that spot and adding a proper weight?

Sent from my fishing boat.
