Controlled crash ?

If a motor dies and the quad/hex starts spinning, can its direction still be controlled by switching to Course Lock mode ? Has anybody tried this, either intentionally or by "Hail Mary" ?

Yes, Benjamin is correct. It is also good to practice this situation buy implementing full yaw then activate Home lock.

BTW - Would RTH achieve the same results when a motor fails?

Easy? You call that easy?
I personally wouldn't use RTH it that situation. I would only use RTH if a) the transmitter dies or b) I die! I can see no reason to use it otherwise. It is not some get out of trouble button, that is what your brain is for. I think RTH would only work if the multi is working correctly, but the pilot is unable to give commands for some reason (transmitter problems or incapacitation).

Way more preachy than I meant to sound! :nevreness:
