Build advice appreciated

First, I must confess last fall I bought a DJI Phantom to fly my Gopro on. Well as I'm sure you're all aware, I outgrew it fast. No more fooling around for me, I want a real multirotor. Below is a parts list I have assembled, I would appreciate it if you guys could look it over and see if I have made any mistakes. I really tried to do all of my research before hopping on the board and asking noob questions. Regardless, I am still a noob and I apologize in advance for my ignorance. My goal is a stable video platform my camera/gimbal/FPV payload is about 500g.

Frame (I believe it's an f550 clone)

Flight Controller (this is my major concern, will I be able to accomplish GPS lock with this. Also does this need a compass or is that part of GPS)

Motors 6X (I am concerned about lift, should I be?)

Battery 2X (with my lift conern, it seems I may be able to increase thrust by going to a 14.8v battery, will this affect Flight Controller/ESC)

Thanks Gang, I really appreciate your feedback.

I do have a charger..Didn't bother listing it or a few other odds and ends..thanks for the tip about hobbyking. Any suggestions for other places to purchase?
I appreciate pointing out the reviews. I'm not easily scared off by a little tweaking and learning of the board. I am open to any other flight control/GPS setups..altitude and position hold are important to me..the naza lite isn't out of the question but I am getting close to my budget limit, also I am a big fan of open source technologies.
I'm very curious about 3s vs. 4s batteries.

Benjamin Kenobi

Easy? You call that easy?
I would highly recommend 4S over 3S. Longer flight times and it's easier on components (less heating).

What is your budget and where in the world are you?

Thanks Old Ben Kenobi, That's the info I was looking for. I'm in Saint Louis, MO USA. Where are you located I'm guessing it's not Tatooine.
I'm trying to stay under 500USD with a MAX budget at this time of 700. I'd like to be able to upgrade easily as I grow into this hobby and want to fly my bigger cameras.
