Bad motor after 5 sec?

On my first build of an xbird miniquad all motors checked out during open pilot wizard set ups. Then I flew and one motor crapped out (just oscillates back and forth) after about 5 sec of flying. What would cause that? BTW I did isolate it to the motor and not the esc.

Also when i replace the motor, should I also replace its esc? I did do a 5 sec check on that esc with one of the other motors and it seemed ok.

One common problem on a new build can be motor mount screws a bit too long that contact motor windings. Or, could just be a bad motor from the manufacturer. If the ESC is working with the other motors then I wouldn't see a need to replace it too.
