What do you guys think of these motors? Power and efficiency OK? What props have been used? I am planning on running them on 4s pack. I have run a couple on the bench and they seem to be well balanced.

Thanks,
John

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
john,

they're plenty good. the avroto name is just a rebranding of the Tiger motors. there are several other examples of these motors with different brand stickers on them. they run well, are high quality, and last a long time. they can develop a slight growl that some people attribute to questionable bearings but I don't agree. I think the growl can be from debris inside the motor bell so compressed air is helpful when this happens. i've had bearings growl on me and changing them is not such a big deal. i'm working on a small tool to make it easier to do on your airframe, maybe i'll have some info on that in a week or so.

bart

@bart, I have heard this before about the avroto being a rebranded tiger motor. Could you elaborate on what some of the "other examples" would be of this motor being rebranded?

Thanks for your input,

BG

Edit: I looked around and found threads covering this.

saw your edit.

my little quad with avroto motors weighs 1290g and it just flew with four 6000mah turnigy nano-tech 4S packs which weigh 600g each. so the quad flew with twice its weight just in batteries attached to it for an AOW of about 3700g (8.1 lbs.).

i'm charging the packs now to see what the power consumption was. with only two packs attached it burned through about 330 mah/minute.

just finished charging., 2425 mah added back per pack. with 24000 total, 85% would be about 20,400. consumption was about 690mah total per minute so flight time could be about 30 minutes. i'm just beginning to play with this quad but the point is that the Tiger motors are very good for the money.

I'm confused. In post #4 you said you had avroto's on the "little quad" and your post ^ above you state that "the tiger motors are very good for the money"

Aslo...

I'm looking around the web and I don't see tiger motor 2814's any cheaper than avrotos's? In fact I see them higher priced. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks,

BG

i'm sorry, i use "avroto" and "tiger" interchangeably. I've got avroto's on the quad and tigers on a couple of XY8's that I use for AP work. i buy tiger's now when i need motors.

they're cheap compared to other brands of motors, not other brands of tigers (which are the same actually, confusing??).

Thanks again Bart. I have 4 now but not had a chance to try them. I am thinking of ordering 4 more and stretching my octo.

Oh Bart one more thing. What props seem to work well on 4S? Would 13 x 6.5 sf be too much on a large Octo? I know weight plays a big roll in this but I am wanting to keep the rpm lower and noise down.

Thanks,
John

I'm running six on my hexa (duh!) with APC 12x6E props. I'm very happy with the performance. I used 3S Lips for a while---no problems. But I just switched to 4S for a little more lifting capacity. I'm getting 10 minutes with two 4S 4000s in parallel.
