APM2 Unsuccessful Maiden.

Hello,
So I was finally at the point where I thought my APM2 quad was ready for the maiden flight.
But apparently not.
When I throttle up, the quad tries to flip. And being a newbie I am a little lost as to why.
What are some of the basic things I should check first?

Also, I am running the 3.2.1 version of the firmware. What would be a known good stable version I could run to avoid possible issues caused by bugs? Latest on the 2.9 branch I assume? I am trying to simplify troubleshooting as much as possible while I get to know what I am doing.

Thank you in advance,
Aeronot

not knowing but APM but the most common thing is motors spinning in right direction and props on the right motor. this probably the number one cause of newbies flipping there first builds.

I agree with @jason. Run the motor test routine in Mission Planner to ensure the motors are in the right sequence and turning in the correct direction. Then make sure you have the right props on the right motors.

Thanks.
I did check that first and it all seems to be good.
But I did observe a couple of things in Mission Planner: The icon for the quad shows a + configuration, rather than x, which is what I have.
And the heading seems to be off.
Is this something that would justify the behavior?
I will post in the APM forum.
Thanks,
