Personally I use Fatsharks after trying other googles that seemed like they'd work well. The problem is most of the other googles are intended for watching videos indoors and in shaded spots, not standing outside in the sunlight flying aircraft over a video downlink. Unless a goggle is specifically designed for FPV you may find that they require some form of additional shading to be able to see the screens clearly while flying, especially in bright sunlight. Some people resort to putting a towel over their head while flying with other goggles, the ski goggle mod is just an alternative method of making non-FPV goggles work in an FPV environment. There's nothing worse than being out of line of sight and suddenly realize you can't see the image on the screen well enough to continue to fly the aircraft using the googles, been there, done that, was very glad to have RTH function to bail myself out of a potentially bad situation.

That said, the Fatsharks do allow for inserting diopters to adjust the focus for folks that need glasses. How well they work I can't say, even though I need glasses to read and see things up close I have no problem with focusing on the image in the Fatsharks though the lack of interpupillary adjustment on the Dominators is an issue for me, in that regard I like the Fatshark base set I have better even if the image isn't as good as the Dominators.

If there's any chance to try a set of the goggles you're considering outside in bright sunlight before you purchase them, that would be the best way to find out if they'll work for you or not. Unfortunately that usually isn't possible due to few if any shops actually stocking them, if you're on the fence see if you can either get a 30 day return guarantee or buy a set of used ones for less $ first.

Hey Ken, how much better do you think the image is in the Dominators than the base set? I've got the original Fat Sharks with the 5.8 vrx (same screens as base), and I've been wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to the Dominators.

The image is significantly better in both color and clarity over my set of base Fatsharks. Not being able to adjust the distance between the screens on the Dominators almost negates the better resolution for me as I can't clearly see all of both screens due to them being too close together, the only reason I kept them rather than sell them off was the built in RX feature, I like not being hardwired to the groundstation.

I'm just waiting for the LHS to get the new Fatshark Classics in stock then I'll likely sell off the Dominators if the Classic prove to be all they claim to be. Even if the video looks the same on the screens being able to adjust the screen distance and have a built in RX is good enough reason for me to upgrade.

I have a pair of Vuzix glasses. I don't have anything to compare them to but the picture is very clear. I did however take the eye piece out of the sunglasses they came in and installed them in a pair of ski goggles to keep light out... much better now. Also the cables are too short. powered by 2 AA batteries and they last about 4-5 flights. In winter maybe 3.
