Ever since I got my P2 I have been hooked. I lost my job in March so if it's not raining it gets flown multiple times daily. I'm always practicing new techniques, honing my skills of aerial photography.
So I had this thought about starting a company. Build a larger ship and set up a website, get marketing materials done and start knocking on doors. I have no problem building a 10-15k machine but not if I cannot get work for it. That brings me to my second idea of interning. Yes, I'd really work for free in exchange for on the job training and experience. I have contacted a couple well know aerial photography companies asking if they would take me on as an intern. Haven't heard anything back so I have been brainstorming on how I can get my foot in the door.
So far I have been building a video and photo portfolio by doing stuff for free. I have been training on Premier Pro. I have registered for some advanced photography courses after Christmas. I know if I can catch a break and get some experience I will do very well.

You pros out there. Any advise?

Cheers.

Where are you located?

Also, i don't know many, myself included, that would let 'an intern' fly the larger, much more expensive UAV's. Unless the insurance give's it a green light :)

I don't have to fly their ships. I will have my own. Maybe I sweep the floor. Balance props. Charge batteries. I don't care. I am like a sponge. I would learn fast and prove my worth. Everything I've tackled in life I have excelled at. :)

I am in Toronto.

Ah Canada, just moved out of it a few months ago. The new regulations concerning SUAV's have made it impossible to run a proper business. Hopefully it changes sooner than later, back to the way it was!

If you are in Toronto, i have a pretty good idea of the 3 companies there that you probably contacted. Try calling them, they are a big 'discreet' about opening up to anyone.

How hard is it for you to come down outta the white north into anytown USA to work if everything was covered. Can you take a paycheck from a company in the states? Were looking for a few good men....

We pretty much fly everywhere we work except la/hollywood. we live out of condos and hotels on the road but for extended periods of time,,,, anything from three days to a month or few. We have some legit local 600 union based positions available.....

Men AND WOMEN you mean :)

I use to live in Encinitas, moved back north (after many years in the IT biz) a while back, dual citizen.... Giving up the IT stuff and bought a Cinestar 8 with AV200, Tiger 3515 in X8 to build a new career around. If I had more flight time I'd probably apply to come back to San Diego..... But I'm a newbie!!!!
