Anyone done the straight transplant from 330 xs to 500x?
thinking of going for the bigger frame but also like the folding frame as my main transport is motorcycle and it would make life easier to transport.

I haven't yet, mainly because the original Gaui motors I have wouldn't work very well on the larger frame, they're barely adequate for the 330. If you have the Scorpion motors it would probably work much better but the weak link is still the GU 344 controller.

I generally like the smaller frames anyway, hard to carry the bigger ones on a motorcycle no matter how you do it, this is my preferred method...

It's about the same size as a 330X which also fits in no problem, standard Givi 360, I put the TX and batteries in the side bag.

HI Ken
Thanks for the reply, must admit I too like the small frames from a transport issue but dont have any hard luggage on my BMW F800S so the quads have to be able to fit in a Rucksack/back pack.
You are right about the GU-344, i will be changing to a Nazza in about a weeks time to see how that goes.
I have the scorpion motors on my 330 and they have bags of power on 3cells so might go for the 500x frame next month, the bonus about that frame is that it folds.

At least you have the right kind of motorcycle, this is what the Givi 360 is attached to... :)

I'm running the Scorpion motors, and stock 330x esc's with 8 inch props on my F450. Has plenty of power for me. Don't think you would have much trouble until you try to go to 10" props. I Imagine 9" props would work just fine, though.

Hi Steve

Thought about the Naza for the addition of altitude hold but have put the funds toward a fresh build acrobatic quad. Still flying my 330XS as a camera ship but still want to get a slightly bigger frame for stability.
My acro quad is based on Warthox's setup, just have to programme the FC then im good to go testing :0)

Hey guys,

We have a full line of motors and esc coming in a few days, good pricing and good quality. Might be worth it to upgrading motors for the bigger frame. We also have DJI Naza and F450 frame. We can do combo deals for you guys if anyone is interested. Please email and let us know.

Looking for anyone who is UK based, and has a Gaui 330X s or 500X which they are willing to show us how to fly? Mainly in the Bristol area or in Surrey as well? Generally around the London area would be ok. We are looking to purchase either model, and would like some advise generally on whether they are good for aerial photography? We are adding the uprated legs and stand to the 330X S for better stability in flight. What are the major obstacles in learning to fly them generally? Also do you feel the flight similar software is worth purchasing? Many thanks

phenoman, buy yourself one of these for learning on - you cant go wrong http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/blade-mqx.html in Australia they are $200.00 RTF or $160.00 BNF.
They handle like the real thing and pretty well indestructable.
Best to use your own Tx as I believe the RTF unit isn't the best, check this out as well.. http://www.archeli.com.au/forums/showthread.php?t=151201
Good luck

I was looking the other day at the 500x frame again, think I'll go for one as I'd does look like a more stable platform.
I have a multiwii controller in my gaui as I found the gu344 lacking a bit.
Do you have any vids of yours flying?
Welcome to the forum btw.

Sorry no video yet. I agree the GU344 is not that great but that said I do have the GU344 in the 500X because I got a Flame Wheel F450 with camera mount to do AP and that is what I put my Naza in. The GU344 is ok for sport flying and it is much better in the 500X frame. So I would say go ahead and do the upgrade it is well worth it. And when I do get some video I will post it but you may beat me to it.
