Best FC for a new Hexacopter build.

Thanks for the comments censrd. You are right, I did lose quite a few parts along the way. Not expensive though. The motor and escs were faulty and replaced by the dealer. At least one of the Nase32 Fc's was a dud as well. I probably spent about £80 replacing the other bits and pieces. Far...

Hex now built and flying, but want to upgrade to good quality motors.

Thanks so much for that, I will print it off for future reference. Being in Ireland, it can get windy, but we have nice still days also. Im mainly going to be doing aerial video and photo I expect, not much interest in racing or zipping about, but there 920's do give me a solid reserve of...

Best FC for a new Hexacopter build.

Well, just to update from day one. After quite a few crashes and tumbles and a few strip downs, I have finally got the Hex flying the way I like it. I am quite pleased with the amount I have got done from the initial build. Upgraded from Nase32 to a Pixhawk, installed an FPV camera and...

Hex now built and flying, but want to upgrade to good quality motors.

Ive run my spec through a number of spreadsheets, and my setup currently gives me a thrust ratio of 4.3:1, which I think is pretty decent? I could go to 800KV with a 3:1 thrust ratio at 2212 size, which for mainly aerial video and photo is probably ok. However, Thats not a huge difference, and...

Hex now built and flying, but want to upgrade to good quality motors.

Motors are DJI copies, labelled RHD. To be honest, they seem to be quite robust and have in the main held up very well to the abuse I have given them while learning to fly. But I want to have motors that aren't as power hungry, but also capable of a larger blade size because I am using this...

Hex now built and flying, but want to upgrade to good quality motors.

I have my new build Hex in the air and doing pretty much what its meant to do, which is no mean feat given the abuse it has had at my hands! So, I'm really looking to upgrade the motors now as the motors I have are cheap Chinese made things, and I am not convinced they won't let me down. I...

Best FC for a new Hexacopter build.

Bit the bullet and ordered a Pixhawk PX4. I have enough spares to build a Quadcopter as well, and I will use the Naze32 on it. So, I've been playing around with the Pixhawk since the weekend. I had another steep learning curve jumping to another stack so early in my experience and after just...

    Help powering 2s-3s Esc's via 4s Lipo.

Thanks, I thought that may be the case as a quick google did not bring up any UBEC with a high enough Amp rating. Ill hold on to them and buy a few £S batteries.

    Help powering 2s-3s Esc's via 4s Lipo.

Hi, I bought some backup Esc's and Motors for my Hex, just to have spares. However, on delivery, I have notices they are for 2s-3s battery. This is my mistake as I should have read the detail in the advert. I can't use these on my Hex now unfortunately, but I have enough parts to enable me to...

Best FC for a new Hexacopter build.

Thanks. Yes, I think the Pixhawk may be the way to go with an M8 GPS. I am peeking through my fingers at Mission Planner, as I will now need to learn this, after just about getting used to Cleanflight, but the setup of the Pixhawk PX4 looks fairly easy. I like the option for 6 flight modes...

Best FC for a new Hexacopter build.

Ok, update so far.......Still not in the air!! :-) Ran into many first build issues and a huge amount of man hours studying up. I can say, I am 500% more tuned in to this now than I was just a few weeks ago, but it has taken a lot of study. Firstly the build. No issues here. Ive a nice Carbon...

No transmitter inputs appearing on Cleanflight for new build. Taranis X9, via X8 to Acro Naze32 v6

Hi Phillip. All I have done was flash the latest firmware from within CF to the Naze. What do you mean by reflash C Cleanflight?

No transmitter inputs appearing on Cleanflight for new build. Taranis X9, via X8 to Acro Naze32 v6

Thanks for checking. I have a new Naze32 on the way, as I think this one is faulty to add to the issues. Too many freezes for me to be comfortable adding it to a build. I'll try what you say when I get it next week, but Im sure I selected the receiver type first as you say.

    Hi From Ireland.

First apologies, I am just noticing this section now after posting 2 or 3 times. Based near Lough Neagh about 20 miles from Belfast City in the North of Ireland. After years of watching the whole Drone/ UAV scene explode, I have finally got round to my first build. The more I get into it, the...

Best FC for a new Hexacopter build.

Erm, I can read normal text thanks. :) I'm in the UK, that rule does not apply here. I can fly a UAV up to 20kg without a licence. Drones are currently regulated by the UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)and split up into three different weight categories: 20kg or less, 20kg to 150kg, and...

No transmitter inputs appearing on Cleanflight for new build. Taranis X9, via X8 to Acro Naze32 v6

Hi, I have been reading studying and pouring over articles and videos for weeks prior to my parts arriving, and I have just started putting the electronics together for testing. I am using the Turnigy X9rPlus, to the FrSky X8r and Acro Naze32 v6 FC. All are new. I am running Cleanflight and...

Best FC for a new Hexacopter build.

Guys, thank you all for your replies, much appreciated. As I have all the above parts bought and assembled I have started with this build initially, but will focus first on getting the bird in the air before concentrating on the GPS and Gimbal. Old gazer, thats valuable points you have raised...

Hi all, New member here, hoping to soak up some advice and tips along the way. I am about to start my first build in a few days time. All the parts have arrived bar a few connectors etc, and I should be good to go for the weekend. I have spent over 2 months pouring over videos and webpages...
