Do you have the GPX file? Also, have you tried lifting off with Flight Ctrl only? ( process of elimination )

have you properly calibrated the Accelerometers? ( Left Stick, Up+Right ). Also, do not try to lift with unknowns like that ( risky ). remove all the props, then connect the MKUSB and simulate a liftoff without the props while looking at the MKTools. Hope you get it right soon.

Try putting the camera on a higher F-stop, something like F.13, then put the lens on infinity ( this will give you deep DOF ) also set it to full manual. I too have the D7000 and i hope nikon is going to add something like 60p recording. This was a quick test with the focus thing.
