Buying a new drone, need advice :)

Yes, the FC is actually the APM board , so you'll be using Mission Planner. It' s done there. The Cheerson CX20 and the Quantum Nova are the same machines here is a link, there are tons of these Youtibe videos on how, this is just one.

Buying a new drone, need advice :)

Buying a new drone, need advice :)

What kind of flying do you want. , This is a great Aerial Photo UAV, you'll need a lipo charger and a 3S Lipo. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__55107__Quanum_Nova_FPV_GPS_Waypoint_QuadCopter_w_out_Battery_Mode_1_Ready_to_Fly_.html It is comparable to the DJI Phantom. If you like...

    Flying in snow

I fly 250 class FPV in the snow. If your FC , camera, VTx, ESC's have control boards with circuits exposed, they could short. You are right snow is actually water. I use liquid tape on my exposed boards ( XCorrosion) will work also. You will need to seal the ends of your ESC Shrink wraps also...

    How many here are Hams?

I have a General Ticket...I had this way before I was into FPV or Muticopters also. I agree A lot of Ham's don't really care about the 2.4ghZ and 5.8gHZ.."The "hams " around here worry more about the other bands that get interfered with. Especially the sensitive Amateur Extra Bands . I know a...

    multi-rotor recommendation needed for work

The platform seems to work nicely for you. I too have filmed miles of land in survey form. I use a 2000 watt Honda generator hooked to a 406duo iCharger connected to a 1500 W Meanwell dc/dc transformer to charge my 6S lipo's in the field. The set up was expensive, however, was invaluable in...

A few questions from a total neophite

I sometimes fly my Multirotor at the Public High School My kids went to. They know me and I know them. On weekends there is hardly anyone there. Big football and soccer practice fields galore. I have not ever been approached by individuals who are demanding answers or threatening expulsion. They...

    multi-rotor recommendation needed for work

You could always go Autonomous Flights using waypoints. Maybe a RTF http://www.fpvmodel.com/tarot-ironman-fy650-bnf-rtf-ready-to-fly-_g48.html . Then add a 2.4gHz Datalink withBTU (Bluetooth Unit) and an iPAD . You could fly auto pilot routes by mapping the area needed for survey with the...

Why aren't there any smaller X8s?

Yes a ten pound weight falling from the sky can seriously hurt or destroys someone or something. I live out in the country and have acreage for a backyard, so I only fly here. I think the only thing I did was scare a bunch of squirrels in that tree. Which also belonged to me. ha ha

Why aren't there any smaller X8s?

yes , this x8 was a quadcopter in the beginning. I had a prop break off in mid flight ( about 300 ft. in the air). It dropped like a rock. crashed through a maple tree and luckliy the only parts that broke off was the landing gear and the gimbal. the hood that covers the top saved all my...

    What just happened

Good Luck, . You know I have read about the "Dead Roll' also. I have flown my Naza for almost two years without a flip. I have crashed it alot from just learning how to fly it and FPV flying, but never a complete flip. I think if you had a "lemon" Naza you would had other problems with the...
