    6S on F450-size quad

6S means low KV motor somewhere < 300. Low KV motor with 6S means big *** props 17"+ which won't fit on on your frame. Largest prop you can carry is 12" which typically go with 750(ish)KV motors and 4S batteries. Those are guidelines, which is not to say that you can't get it to work, but too...

First build tell me what you think

Obviously it does. That's where ecalc comes into play. My tool only helps newbies make basic choices and get them aligned. Ecalc can actually calculate the result.

First build tell me what you think

To get an indication check out my tool, link in sig. After that put it in ecalc.

Newbie putting together a F550 :-), Has a few questions?

I think he does. About the number of channels. How on earth do you get to 8 for the FC? There roll pitch yaw thrust which makes 4, undoubtedly you'll have some fail save button or return home or whatnot which makes it 5 or 6. So how do you get to 8? @op: what king of props?

    Questions for multi-rotor vets...

Lone wolf here as well. I'm still searching for the right combination and haven't found it yet. What I can offer you is to check out my simple calc tool. It helps getting the parts aligned (and checks whether it fits). After that cram it in ecalc for the real pre build test. link to it is in my...

too low throttle - what is the impact?

I'll dig into it. Thank you!

too low throttle - what is the impact?

Ill do that. 8-10 still isn't really a lot now is it...? I was hoping to get around 20min. mixed.

    Wiring

thanks for the elaborate response. I've studied physics, so the calculations of power, voltage, amps and resistance are well-known to me, including internal resistance of wires (which is more high school stuff btw). *However* there is a huge difference between theoretical knowledge and practice...

too low throttle - what is the impact?

thanks for the response. I would have guessed that 'twitchy' is what happens, but I liked it verified. The frame allows 10" max so no go there. As for the tweaking, yes the flight times seemed a bit low, but what can I usually expect?

    Wiring

thanks. So its ONLY the power distribution for which I need to check the cables. I know the F550 has a built in PDB so that is covered. Anything else?

too low throttle - what is the impact?

From what I've read your throttle @ hoverspeed should ideally be between 50-60%, over that and your craft becomes too irresponsive and might not take off at all. But too low? In my case between 30 and 40%, does it become difficult to fly? Here the ecalc result (Im using NTM motors which...

care to elaborate? As in what *is* good practice?

    Wiring

I have read numerous (new) build pages and written one myself as well (see link in sig) and the one thing that is either not mentioned at all or mentioned in one word is 'wiring'. Can anyone tell me more about the wiring? Preferably in relation to my own build: Multi Rotor - My Parts...

My first Quadcopter build - your opinion is appreciated

you start out (full battery) with a throttle of 72% @hover speed. That's too high. It must be between 50 and 60%. So: - less weight - bigger props/higher pitch - stronger motors (== lower KV) - higher S batteries (but make sure your motors can handle it) edit: I crammed your numbers in my...

    Hello quad-world!

you can start with reading 'build' posts to get an idea of what is required. When you get a feel for that you can check my calculator out which helps you make the baby steps (as its helping me out doing my baby steps as Im in exactly the same situation as you....ok no longer a student, but...

    What quad is this?

thats a hubsan X4. So more like 5-10 minutes flight. Unless you get it with 12 lipos extra...:livid:

New Setup! Please help me out and share your knowledge

the calculator I linked is for newbies, its not 'ecalc stuff' but more to get things within range. Suggestions.... I'm a newbie myself so I can't really say much from experience. The T 9xr is also on my list, same for 4S batteries. Personally im going for the F550 Hex, but I might end up with...
