Got the frame last week. Then noticed the motor pod had snapped off at the screw ear. Down another week for parts. Shame there aren't (near as I can tell) any MR hobby shops in the area.

Gain, as I understand it, is the amount of reaction you get from the craft for a given amount of stick input. A low gain means a small reaction to a large stick movement; high gain is a large reaction to a small stick movement. Or... look at it as a control input multiplier. Flying in windy...

I tend to overthink stuff sometimes and have had some expensive learning experiences in the past. Is there a frame that would allow me to fly with just 4 motors, but I could add another 4 coaxial later if I decide to go with a decent gymbal? I figure there might be something designed for 8, but...

I've seen a design recently that used a central ducted fan for lift and 4 'outboard' motors for attitude control. However, that probably defeats the purpose of your project.

I can imagine the old saying of balancing a broom on your finger coming into play on this project. I tried something similar back around '95-96 but dropped the project. Never could get the 2 engines to produce equal thrust at full throttle. It would have used the same control design you plan if...

Looks exactly like what happened to mine today. Wasn't an inverted dive, but the roof caught it at a fair clip.
