Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

I expect I could clean it up with After Effects but it is a test. I would never use footage that has own shadow in it. That was the first time that I have tried a Gopro. I think there is a lot more that can be done to improve it. We have had about four months of continuos rain and high wind so...

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

I got up early this morning to try this new gimbal. This is just down the road from my office so it's a good place to try stuff. The gimbal is a totally new concept and is powered by PCB motors. Only two axis. TO BOLDLY GO WHERE OTHERS CANT-HaHaDon't think I would risk that with a S800. Hit the...

    If money was no option....

Sometimes I think that this heavy lift stuff has no use outside of cinematic production. This entire machine weighs about the same as the Zenmous gimbal. It has tiny flat PCB motors to drive the the gimbal. So light that the wire dampers are made with control line wire. Fact is that with a GoPro...

Z15 need a NEX fixed lens

I think the reason is to do with where they fit the camera position so that it will balance. A zoom lens will change it's CoG as you zoom it, so that is probably the reason. When you get into this kind of pointing accuracy the camera has to be perfectly balanced because the fast acting motors...

DJI Zenmuse gimbal and S800 Spreading Wings preorder

I just had a notification about my order. DJI have requested to know what lens will be fitted to the Nex-7. Only fixed focal lengths can be used apparently. I am not sure if this is for balancing the gimbal or if it could be some sort of optimised gyro PID setting. Anyone know about this?

DJI prepares for WKM II with Naza GPS upgrade.

I have to say that my naza is about the same as WKM but it is lighter so I tend to use it more. I only film in good weather and not much wind so i find the position hold is good enough for most jobs. Low weight and high endurance is what I aim for.

    using aluminum frames. ?

Well I haven't had an alum. model since my original MK Okto - long since gone. But Carbon is also a conductor so I don't think you should have any issues with that. My only worry would be the weight. I am not a great fan of anything co-axial because it is very inefficient. But with that design...

yeah, Jeremy at electriflite did do some tests last week to find a solution. It would seem that the ESC's from TM were with 3.1 firmware.

Are Very-good motors really better than pretty-good motors??

I prefer the Tiger motors because of the flat 14 pole design which in my tests have less vibration, prop overhang and run smoother. However you have to be cafeful with ESC's because these motors need 30 deg advance. they work ok with the latest HW esc's that are flashed with 4.1. I have also...

    Show us what you shot.

In the UK there are designated military flights given out in the NOTAMS and posted on the board at all active airfields. How many modelers will read that! Jets can be operating at up to 450mph and as low as 250 feet. Thats is why light aircraft are not cleared below 500 feet outside of...

    Help to choose ESC

It depends on which firmware the Turnigy has, earlier ones have 3.1 and you need 4.1 HiModel and HobbyWing now have 4.1 TC's reflashed with Simonk firmware at Abusemark are good providing that you are not running 14 pole flat low Kv motors These need 30 degrees of advance which normally only...

    Show us what you shot.

It is not just MR's that can cause this kind of problem. Many times when I was landing at Shoreham airport gliders on the adjacent hill would often try and get close. Seen FPV guys and Hang gliders at around 5,000 feet. I never complained but many did. The problem with models is than you don't...

    If money was no option....

A basic T-Rex 800 Extreme is a little over 2k, Zenmous and Ace One about 5k, a few good servos and that would get you started. Make no mistake that is one powerful electric heli. before you start tweeking it. When you are working at that level it is of course a two man job. You only fly with a...

    If money was no option....

There is absolutely no question about it. If you want to lift that sort of weight reliably then you need a high end heli. Something like a T-rex 800 (elect.)with 830 assymetric blades and a direct drive tail rotor plus a balanced zenmuse (or one of Tabbs) with Ace One. Not that much more cost...

DJI WKM does not switch back from Fail-Safe

Gunter Do you not have a three position switch or did you set 3rd position as failsafe? this is not the right way to do it. It is covered in the manual but you must enable failsafe in your Tx. first. Otherwise if the Tx signal is lost you can't get a response back from the rx to the controller...

    Naza is a brick

Sounds like your battery was low. Red light comes on if you try to climb. DJI will start to loose stability when this happens.

I understand, you will learn as you go and then it all comes naturally. Point and shoot cameras are the way to go for most MK shootings. The high end stuff for the greater part is male jewelry it will hardly get used except by the few who really understand the market place and the equipment...

A little competition for you all...

A lot depends on the lens angle of view, you should try to keep the sun behind you but slightly offset. As the cheapest part of the exercise is the digital image storage you can shoot your *** off. and take as many variations on the theme as you can get. I would take probably a 100 or so shots...

Power distribution for non MK ESC users

The most reliable PDB is as simple wire manifold carefully soldered incorporating a switch. Board pads can easily lift with the loads of heavy duty wire and break the circuit. I have seen this a few times. A manifold can take up a lot less space.
