Does your Multi Rotor pay its way?

In New Zealand, we are lucky that our CAA hasn't over-regulated yet but I suspect it will happen soon. With most countries writing laws to either regulate / make money out of us or ban us due to 'security issues', ours will change soon. I think my biggest threat is the number of FPV videos...

If the shadow counts as "equipment in the photo..." - awesome. Pete

My ip address always appears as Auckland, New Zealand - which sucks as 3/4 of New Zealanders (which don't live in Auckland) think that place sucks! Pete

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

Like many here on the forum, success has usually come from a huge amount of time, testing, money, experimenting and a bit of madness! It's not just passion but fanaticism that gets you through! Sometimes - you just need to have fun. I took my hex to my wife's Christmas party. The...

Factory Build - 7 Months of Aerial Photos and Video

The containers at the end are acid baths / water baths for preparing steel for hot-dip zinc galvanizing. The middle bath down the long-side is a 15,000Kg 35,000 liter frying pan! That it the one that the liquid zinc is in. It was the biggist / heaviest bath as was the one being lifted into...

Factory Build - 7 Months of Aerial Photos and Video

A commissioned photo-shoot recording the progress of a new factory building project. We have shot aerial stills every month using our r/c electric helicopter camera-ship. The aerial video (by my diy HFP hex) was a trial and not commercial grade - but how often do you get a chance to fly around...

    What do you do?

I have been a comms engineer for 27 years. Married for 16 years. One adult stepson and a perfect 14yo daughter - perfect because she videos my model without grumping... I have flown rc for 26 years. Occasional full-size pilot but I don't have a current licence. I want a homebuilt... the wife...

    Accident reporting thread

I was flying my diy 850mm (m-to-m) hex on an alitimeter test. At 217' (indicated), one of my world-class solder joints (I don't use connectors) gave way on the "4 o'clock" motor. It tilted to the right and down it came. I reduced power in case it flipped. It decended rapidly sideways and at...

    Accident reporting thread

Sounds like "beta testing" for another brand now ;) Sorry... just playing. I look at all the boards I have in the shed and everyone had problems... all part of the game. Pete

    Accident reporting thread

Did you find the reason the HFP boards didn't work for you? Crashing is one thing but working through looking and finding the cause (and learning from it) is what this thread is about :)

HoverFly Pro - AL Stabilization and camera trim changes while flying

I have now put the latest firmware on and the "smash" has gone :) I get the same results if I take off in manual mode or AL. I suspect my 2nd-hand board is not healthy... It passed the tests with the previous owner - I suspect he had no idea it wasn't well. I am not a "hover and do nothing"...

HoverFly Pro - AL Stabilization and camera trim changes while flying

I get the same AL trim reaction without the servos connected. I turn to the right in AL mode and it wants to slide out of the circle to the left. I have another blackboard coming for my to try from "Stacky". The strange thing is that the tilt reaction occurs even thought I'm doing a flat...

HoverFly Pro - AL Stabilization and camera trim changes while flying

Any Hoverfly pilot here experience this??? I see lots of stabilized videos on the net but no one is videoing and flying around at the same time (eg. following a motorcross circuit). My camera stabilization wanders badly - but so does the AL perception of the board when flying. This...

    Gopro case vs no case

How far do you go for protection??? I didn't get a scratch with not using the housing and having the odd crash until it fell out my coat pocket and lens-down onto the road!

Falling out of the sky problem...

+1 I prefer to solder them (big iron, held in a small vice with a wet sponge handy) than try and force the EC3 tubes into the plastic housing... Most of us buy "cheans" - I can't get the "proper" ones in my country. Pete
