Hoverfly HF PRO, Where are we at?

I hate to say it and rock the boat but the GPS on Hoverfly is still S**t compared to anything thats out there. I've been a big believer in HF since they were Quad Powered (originally). I still believe their manual flight performance cannot be beaten. The GPS does work. However the GPS and...

Hoverfly PRO/GPS black boards for sale (2sets)

Hello all. I'm selling my Hoverfly Pro and GPS black boards. I've decided to move on to a Microcopter due to the lack of development of GPS features at Hoverfly. For those of you who don't know about Hoverfly it is arguably the smoothest manual flying controller available. I use it on Large...

XAircraft Super X heavy lift with 13 lb payload GPS testing

Heres another couple videos I made today during testing the Super X. The first one is Loitering and the second one is Loitering while a DJI phantom buzzes around it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_uD9IiSW1k&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aer0lilAmsE

XAircraft Super X heavy lift with 13 lb payload GPS testing

Yes it does have a smooth way it goes about flying in ATT GPS mode. I'm really impressed it carried the amount of weight I put inside the toolbox (which was full of batteries). I just wanted to make sure it could carry the weight of a Red Epic camera and still maintain its altitude and position...

XAircraft Super X heavy lift with 13 lb payload GPS testing

I usually fly heavy lift ships with the Hoverfly and even the APM and Pixhawk. Although the APM and Pixhawk are not as smooth. My first impressions were on my front lawn with no payload. I tested it for basic functionality. In manual and auto leveling mode it flew very similarly to the Hoverfly...

XAircraft Super X heavy lift with 13 lb payload GPS testing

I'm a long time Hoverfly user and newbie to the Super X. I test flew it for the first time today. After confirming its basic flight and GPS functions are all working I rigged a 13 pound tool box underneath my large octo and tested the GPS functions. Here is the video...

Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS is much better now

PS. The problem I had with the Altitude Hold was it had a tendency to over shoot its target altitude when climbing or descending. If you rapidly or even moderately bring the throttle stick back to center from a climb or descent it will overshoot its target and fight to get back to it possibly...

Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS is much better now

If your still using the original GPS that came with the HF GPS get rid of it. It works but its a cold start GPS meaning it has no onboard battery to remember its last information when unplugged. I've been using a 3DR mediatek 2.0 GPS for all those 100 hours. It usually locks in 10 seconds. It...

Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS is much better now

Sorry. I have never used the Altitude hold function while flying a fully loaded 30+lb ship. I worry about it hopping up and down too much. All the other functions like Auto Leveling, PH, RTH all work very well while flying on my heavy ship. I'm flying a flat Octo with 17 inch props to give you...

Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS is much better now

4.8 is the best firmware. I've been using it on shoots for a long time now and it works really good. The altitude hold is a bit different than previous versions. It does react much more quickly. However it does sometimes have a tendency to oscillate up and down. I've never used it on a 30+ pound...

Pixhawk the new flight controller from 3DR

Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS is much better now

All you have to do is load the ublox beta test firmware for both the HFP and GPS boards. Keep in mind my GPS performance prior to upgrade was a 40 foot circle. So it cut it in half for me.

Hoverfly Hoverfly GPS is much better now

I happened to have an extra Lea 6 Ublox GPS laying around. I did the modification on my large Octo. In 10mph winds it was holding in a 20 foot circle. Not bad. It does drift around still but at least its not a 40 foot circle as it has flown before. It does help.

Hoverfly Hoverfly X-8s continue to be the work horse

Hoverfly is the best at manual control. I've owned all the expensive flight controllers (Woookong M, Naza, Zero UAV, Hoverfly) and nothing comes close the the manual performance of a Hoverfly Pro Controller. Its the smoothest controller out there. It retains this smoothness while hanging a 20 lb...

Hoverfly Hoverfly X-8s continue to be the work horse

Finally! someone who has had the same problem I've had. My controls got all reversed somehow. It took me a while to figure it out but after connection to the setup program I saw the "Care Free Mode" was activated somehow. I've never used it before. Yet somehow it became activated. All my...

Hoverfly HFP spontaneously reset all its setting.

Join the club. I've been flying with Hoverfly since their inception. I've had the same issues. The settings would disappear. I don't know what causes it but it does happen.

    Hoverfly New to Hoverfly

This is an odd problem. First off, it doesn't matter with the HFP firmware when it comes to green or black boards. The firmware works with both. There is only a couple changes made to the black board. The biggest one is the power filter. The green board comes with an external one while the black...

    Hoverfly ARtificial Horizon is Wrong

You could turn your board backwards then reverse all your controls. You don't want to do this though. Remember that an artificial horizon matches the actual horizon. Whichever direction the ship rolls, the horizon goes the opposite way. You can't take the horizon with you. My job is as a...

    Hoverfly PH Throttle sensitive

The Altitude Hold feature does not activate with PH. It is kept separate on the Hoverfly. When you activate PH the Auto Leveling and Position Hold activate but not the altitude hold. Its on a separate switch. Even in the most current firmware (4.8) they did not change this.

Pixhawk the new flight controller from 3DR

Its looking good. I haven't weighed my ships before yesterday. The APM octo I talked about above when fully loaded (gimbal and camera) is 25 lbs. I did get it flying just not very smoothly. Should I try your new update? should I try it without payload?
