    Trappy vs FAA

That is *exactly* what is going on. So this will be interesting to watch. Nope. Only C&D letters. I think they didn't want to do something that would trigger this court case. I'm sure they know their position is tenuous. Forcing a court case would risk a loss, which would remove their...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Warning about APM2.x performance on Octocopters

No, not at all. Why would you think that? I've posted the same info on 3 boards, and in some of the other places the discussion starts to diverge. Some people questioning if this is the cause of a GPS glitch on a tricopter and things like that, which don't make any sense. This is a cut and...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Warning about APM2.x performance on Octocopters

And just to make the situation clear, Arducopter does work on Octos. It just does not meet my very high performance standards. This post is only intended to be a warning that you *can* overload it with too many features and you have to be careful. This video was shot mostly in Alt Hold...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Warning about APM2.x performance on Octocopters

Yes, absolutely, the PX4 and/or Pixhawk hardware will solve the problem. It has like 100 times the processing power of the APM. :) I actually flew my octo last night on Pixhawk, and it was sweet. Finally flying as well as my Helis were! And then on the second flight, I hit a sensor driver...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Warning about APM2.x performance on Octocopters

Just throwing this out there as a courtesy to the folks on this forum who might not otherwise see it. I started flying an octocopter with APM2.5 a few weeks ago, and discovered that it has a fairly significant performance issue. We have long been concerned about the processor loading on the...

    We don't need no water

Thanks. I wanted something rugged and simple, built specifically to fly Arducopter. Every button has a function, and every function has a button. No extra switches to confuse the operator. And ergonomically laid out. The only issue really is that it's actualy 90% empty space in the bottom...

    We don't need no water

Dunno, the description says lithium polymer. My setup?

Small drone crashes in NY city

But, but... it talks to satellites! Just turn the transmitter off and it will fly home and land on your lap. What happened?!

    We don't need no water

When I built my GCS, I was of course planning on using LiPo, because... that's the only battery available right? My batteries are quite built-in and inaccessible, so I had to figure out how to make the balance plug accessible, etc. Then I realized... wait a minute... this thing is staying on...

Technical test of my new MR frame and gimbal

So how did that Hero 4 turn out?

    F450 vs. Discovery Pro

The problem is bigger than that. The entire camera and gimbal is cantilevered out in front of a narrow-set damper array.

    F450 vs. Discovery Pro

I didn't say the Disco Pro has vibration issues. But it does have camera shake issues. Lots of people having to futz around with dampers. http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread.php?17304-The-TBS-DISCOVERY-PRO-brushless-gimbal-quadcopter/page198 The problem is the damper system is not well...

What Hex does everyone agree is good?

I'm a fan of the Tarot frames too. Don't have one yet, but I like what I've seen from others. Spare parts? You can buy 5 complete frames for the price of one frame from the Kiwis.

    F450 vs. Discovery Pro

Shouldn't be needed. If the vibration damping system can't deal with these vibrations, then it also won't be able to deal with aerodynamic induced vibrations. And this is what we're seeing. I have perfect video, zero vibration, and I haven't balanced the blades at all.

    F450 vs. Discovery Pro

I've spent a bit of time looking at that system, and, from what I can see, it's slightly better than an F450, but not radically so. The layout is obviously designed for the purpose. No question about that. And it's kind of a nice All-in-One design with the gimbal controller, etc. Actually...

    APC New MR Props WTF?

Heck, I wish we didn't have to use the stupid prop adaptors in the first place. Just give me a nice small bore, I've got a reamer from the good old days, more accurate and stable than an adaptor anyway.

Technical test of my new MR frame and gimbal

I've gone through all that. Either the instructions suck so bad that I can't figure it out, or the AHRS is crap. I think it's the latter. Every video I've seen where the gimbal is being dynamically moved, the horizon goes off. If anybody has evidence to the contrary, I'd love to see it. Most...

Technical test of my new MR frame and gimbal

Thanks. It's Arducopter on APM. BLG is Alexmos. Kloner, honest question, how is balance related to horizon drift? I don't really get that. I've had real trouble trying to figure out the Alexmos system. It's weird. The bumping in that corner, not vibration, my frame has pretty much zero...

Technical test of my new MR frame and gimbal

Yeah, I've seen plenty of those videos. But I'm more interested in "significant" cameras. This is a Nex5. Youtube obviously murders it with compression so it might not be obvious. Though it's obvious this footage doesn't have fisheye. ;) I do have to work on some of the settings. I just...

Just a thought on the future of Flight Controllers??

Short answer to the OP. Auto PID tuning is VERY difficult to do. Actually, it's easy to do badly, but it's hard well. Most auto-pid tuning algorithms get things horribly wrong pretty often. It doesn't help that it's a very complicated system we are controlling, and it's not fully modelled...
