    Pixhawk Feedback?

The issue with Drift is that, yaw is the master, and roll follows, to try and prevent "skidding". The problem is that the maximum yaw rate is such that above 18 m/s, 45° of roll is not enough to turn the corner. Basically, you need more than 1G of lateral acceleration to rail the turn, but you...

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

No, I don't think that was it. Movement was on 3 channels, and look like frantic stick movements, not a bad pot.

    Pixhawk Feedback?

Do you mean what the maximum motor voltage is? There really isn't a limit. I'm using a Pixhawk with 8S on a helicopter. There's nothing really stopping me from using 12S if I wanted. Well, OK, that 8S heli uses a separate 2S for the avionics, but that in itself requires a special regulator...

    Pixhawk Feedback?

I don't fly drift much, so I'm not an expert. But I didn't think the throttle mode was different from Stabilize, which also has simple geometric angle/thrust compensation. I know Jason was talking about putting a basic, not-quite-alt-hold throttle compensation into drift mode, but I didn't...

    Pixhawk Feedback?

That is completely untrue. What would make you even say that? If anything, it is the cross-pollination between the different branches which make the system so good. Some of our most important advancements came out of the plane branch. What other flight controller, can fly a copter at 140...

    Pixhawk Feedback?

I'm not going to dismiss, nor apologize for how you were treated. I don't agree with it, but I didn't participate either. However, you do share some of the blame. As I recall, you refused to accept some of the issues being told to you, and compared it to DJI which you claimed flew it...

    680 Pro Payload ??

I used a HobbyWing Quattro ESC to solve that problem. It fits nice and tidy right under the top battery tray. Though I actually put my Pixhawk on top of the battery tray.

    Batteries

One test flight on the Turnigy Multistar batteries. So far so good. Took 13 minutes to get to 15V with 4S 5000 20C, and 19 minutes on the new 4S 8000 10C batteries. 46% more time, 60% more battery capacity. The weight seems to match what they say. We'll see if these get better after a few...

KDE Direct has added Multi-Rotor Heli motors to their lineup

So the 2814 515's are working out fairly well so far. I mounted them up, and when running it with no props, they are very quiet and smooth. Hard to say if they are better or worse than iPower motors, it's been a while since I felt those. But way better than Turnigy NTM motors. I'm using the...

    Pixhawk Feedback?

Sort of funny story from the weekend... I've built a Tarot 650-ish quad that I want to use for AV with a Sony AS100V on a 2-axis gimbal. I need something simple and reliable, because I spend too much time monkeying around with single-rotors. I put KDE 2814 515kv motors on it, DJI 15" folding...

    Pixhawk Feedback?

Dazzab, I don't like what happened in your case for the most part, the way that it was handled. However, it is a fact that your hover throttle was ~80%, and in most people's opinions, that is too high. It's not just us. Now, DJI may effectively mask this issue from you, by artificially making...

    Batteries

Yes, that's them. As for 30C, well, this is the issue. You can't have high energy density, and high C. They are mutually exclusive. It has to do with how much of the battery mass is dedicated to current capacity, and how much is dedicated to power storage. I tend to overlook components that...

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

I tend to be a little more deliberate about it when these things happen. Hands off, and just poke at it. Sometimes stirring the sticks make it worse. And if it's truly out of control, stirring doesn't help. Again though, no idea what really happened here. Not enough data.

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

Thanks, I had just noticed that. Not a lot of data. Ok. I've never seen somebody try that hard. ;) All, I can say for sure, is that the loss of control was NOT caused by a motor reaching maximum. The loss of control was clearly way, way before that.

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

Assuming that in_A, in_E and in_R are Aileron, Elevator and Rudder input... were you sawing on the controls while the copter was out of control? Those logs show extreme movements during the out of control portion. But I'm not sure if that was you trying to control it, or if the radio control...

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

Is there any description of what some of the values mean? Things like acc_x are obvious, but what about m_x? mod, svn? Not sure I'll be able to figure out what happened. The log data is pretty crude compared to what I'm used to. I would hope DJI engineers have more data than this to look...

    KDE XF esc's

Ok, I'll try, but it'll be hard to make it not sound like an advertisement for Arducopter. ;) It's also pretty hard to answer this in a simple way, without getting into specifics. Obviously, the #1 thing is reliability. If the damn thing causes crashes, or you just don't feel confident using...

    680 Pro Payload ??

Yes, I've seen people way overpowering the frames, and you can get away with it. But IMO, playing with the 650 frame which is pretty similar, I don't recommend more than a GoPro and gimbal payload if you want safe and efficient operation.

A2 FC Firmware 2.3 - Here We ALL go Again

Is there any way for me to review this DJI log file without owning an A2? Can just anybody install the log browser on a computer. It should be trivial for a DJI engineer to show whether or not the copter lost yaw control and knew it, or whether the controller was commanding the yaw. It should...

KDE Direct has added Multi-Rotor Heli motors to their lineup

Well, I thought that was the justification for these to be so expensive.
