4008's basic design with a slightly longer stator and a different wind, IMO

    New Story Hexacopter Building

For a self-build that's very well executed. If you're intending to offer for sale, then I'd encourage you to go further - think "outside the box". There's dozens of "conventional" frames like this available now. Push the envelope a bit! :) Also, you obviously have the necessary engineering...

QuarkExpress, InDesign, CMYK conversion, black/white points, bleed allowance, moiré, overlays.... "familiar with...", sure, but not necessarily "proficient in...". I'm familiar with how an internal combustion engines works - helps me get the best from using it, but I don't need to be a mechanic...

I wish I had somebody to do the computer stuff after shooting - takes me hours and hours - usually much longer than the shoot itself. I use HDR a lot - not the gunky, mucky crap you see on Flickr! - to "extend" the dynamic range (harsh Mediterranean sun, deep shadows). I always shoot from a...

I thought #1 looked a bit "muddy", so I pulled it into PS and discovered that you'd left the Adobe RGB profile on it. You definitely want to convert to sRGB before putting it on the web (or to clients, for that matter). I tried the Adobe RGB space for a long time, convinced (by the hype) that it...

Boca bearings upgrades for Tiger(Avroto) motors.

The bearings on my Tiger MT4008's come out with a VERY light tap with a plastic rod from the back. But, for sure, if you crashed it, the bearings won't have liked that at all. I just took the shields off an old bearing - as I've said elsewhere, it's factory greased, so it should never be...

No - I think Boris was right - looks like a Tiger motor, but must be based on the MT4008.

    New Stuff DJi Photokina !

Looking at the pictures of the FS100 mount, I can see that they've got two separate motors driving the roll axis: one at the back and one overhead with push rods. Interesting - showing up the lack of torque from these motors? It looks a bit "cobbled together", certainly compared to the Z15 - I'm...

Aesthetically, I'd choose No.2 (although time of day could have been better ;)) No.3 is a bit messy as a composition and doesn't suggest any story. No.1 is a cliché, and not the ideal rule-of-thirds composition - but that's the one I'd use - it's what people "expect" AP to look like ;) :)

    Overlapping Propeller Designs

It's to do with the air columns (they effectively offer resistance to lateral wind) and the shorter arms (so response to disturbance is quicker). National Geographic Magazine uses a coax-8 and stated in a video (can't find the link right now) that it was much better for wind stability than their...

It also has a hard-wired remote socket. So looking good for an all-round AP camera. :)

    Canon 6D!!!!

Looks good as a stills camera, nothing revolutionary as a video machine. http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canon-eos-6d/

Faa has restricted all rc helicopter flight in the usa airspace

As far as I understand it, even "testing" is classed as "commercial" activity. The "hire and reward part" is not the issue.

Very interesting camera. Very good spec, it seems, on both stills and video. Almost as big and almost as heavy as a low-end DSLR. The line is indeed getting blurred.

Found My Distro Board Finally... Powerhungrysystems.com

I agree the price is irrelevant if it gives you confidence on a big rig. The aspect I would worry about is the use of bullet connectors: they are notorious for shaking themselves use - as in, disconnecting themselves in flight when subjected to vibration. The usual guard against this would be to...

    Coaxial configuration prop directions

Imagine an aircraft wing - the leading edge has to be angled upwards for it to work well - that's angle of attack. A prop is just two (or three) wings attached to a hub - same/similar aerodynamics. Except on a prop the angle of attack is called the pitch - on a prop it varies from the root to...

    Coaxial configuration prop directions

Interesting setup - you don' t really have an octo - it's a quad with doubled motors. ;) Rob is right IMO - much reduced thrust from the bottom engine because the angle of attack of the bottom blade will be approaching zero - the airflow from the top is not straight down - it's a spiral - the...
