    Propellor clearance distance

Phantoms have about 10mm. For the really big aircraft that may have frame flex while under load like banking hard I would want more.

    100% GREEN HORN

I can't think of a better way to get involved than building your own. Build something cheap. You can get frames for $15 Buy a couple and extra props. Go to a remote area and Fly the hell out of it. Crash a bunch of times. Fix, fly, crash and repeat. Lol.

Kde 4215-465 bench test. Shocked by results.

I mailed him last week. I won't paste the email here because I don't have his permission. Basically he said for a Auw of 14kg (hex) these esc's are fine. I did the testing after that email. Sent him my findings Thursday but haven't heard back.

Kde 4215-465 bench test. Shocked by results.

Recommended esc: 55amp. Enough said. Pretty much all their motors say 62+amp. Except the 7215 which is 85+amps which they recommend a 75 amp esc. So basically they have conflicting information. Bad information. I'm not throwing them under the bus here but they are the manufacturer...

    Octo with overlaping propeller arcs

I've thought about this many times. It stands to reason since there would only be a slight overlap it's gotta be more efficient than a coax setup.

Kde 4215-465 bench test. Shocked by results.

There is nothing wrong with the motors. But do not rely on the technical specs. based on my tests if you are running 17 or 18" props you must get the 75amp esc's. 16" and smaller you are good with 55amp.

The downfall of using a rectilinear (5.4mm) lens/gopro

I've switched back To the stock lens. I hate the side effects of the 5.4. And btw you shot that video in the shade. Lol

My point is we kinda rely on having good manufacturer data for component selection. You are flying an octo?

What lens for Black Magic Production 4k?

I think this site has a higher ratio of experienced, professional guys to noobies then other sites. The guys here tend to be older and more mature but I think they tend to lurk more and post less. Just the vibes I get, I could be way off.

Seen it. The bearings are the week link when it comes to heat. That is expected.

Does anyone have an opinion on the purpose of this thread? My findings on how the motors draw way more than advertised? How the hell can you properly pick components when tech data is so far off?

FYI the esc never got hot. It was a short test. It hit 90F and I shut down.

    looking for recommendation...

It seems daily there is a professional build popping up in the classifides for penny's on the dollar. Look daily. Not just on this site but all of them. I'm gonna say a nice hex. Rtf look at the s900 but consider aftermark gimbal. I'm all hot and bothered over the Gremsy products and...
