    Promoting Commercial sUAS.

Chuck, any reasonable person can see the merit of what you're saying. But you seem to forget the absolute truth that life isn't fair. It never will be. The original seven entities took the bull by the horns, spent the time and money needed for research and attorneys and made things happen. Of...

    Promoting Commercial sUAS.

It is interesting that Flying Cam, who has done this earlier than anyone to my knowledge, was initially denied. It certainly does show the hesitation of allowing a single rotor system into the fold. Unquestionably they are less safe on set but those guys also have a good record spanning over...

New Pricing announced on Freefly Movi gimbals

The progression is understood but it's still a bitter pill for those with M10's. And at NAB they had stated upgrade to M15 would be $3k and now it's $6k. We were planning to convert one but not now.

New Pricing announced on Freefly Movi gimbals

Most certainly. They were forced into this by DJI.

post your AUW for flat okto or X8 airframes

Thanks for info, guys. Kloner I've considered a hex. Would sure be easier for travel, less stuff and just less BS. Like the idea of six big high efficiency props, etc. But the safety aspect still keeps me coming back to okto. For pure safety I haven't hear a good argument against an okto over...

post your AUW for flat okto or X8 airframes

Our heavy lift flat okto's are just under 7kg (15lb) with two 9Ah 6S batts. Our X8 okto's are a bit less. This is for airframe only- no gimbal or other payload. Would be curious to hear AUW's of other rigs. Just the airframe and batts, no gimbal.

Two drones almost collide with NYPD chopper

Just look at car and truck accidents. Hundreds per day, often with serious injury or even fatal. But it's fine because everyone understands and tolerates the risk equation. It's the opposite with MR's. They are new and scary to the vast majority of people. All they see is privacy infringement...

Forbes article on FAA regulatory environment

Mr. McNeal has a sensible perspective with solid logic to back his views. Great piece. jes111, the FAA is handling this issue very poorly but US airspace is certainly unique. The four largest airports here alone do more cycles in a day than the UK would see in a week.

Considering MRF blastmail system to address FAA regulatory process but need your help

Sorry for the confusion. Everything I'm talking about is in the context of commercial sUAS work, specifically aerial filming with sUAS. You mentioned earlier: What I'm saying is that a ban won't change anything- just increase activity under the table. A ban will equate to less safety. As as...

Considering MRF blastmail system to address FAA regulatory process but need your help

This is is very possible. It would be stupid and even irresponsible, but very possible. The practical issue is, nothing would really change. We wouldn't stop our sUAS ops and neither would 90% of the other guys. That genie is out of the bottle. It would just push it further under the table...

Looking for input on Agricultural build.

Mikrokopter would be another possible choice for flight control. The latest firmware has very nice GPS/waypoint functionality. Fairly significant learning curve but pro level performance.

Goggles dangerous, hardly but your big heli's are out to get you!

All of these machines command respect and could cause harm. The really big multis with 25"+ props start to enter the same realm as single rotor. But I still think multis are safer overall and a typical X8, flat octo or hexa with 15 to 18" props is way safer on set than a single rotor heli. When...

Goggles dangerous, hardly but your big heli's are out to get you!

No question single rotor helis are more dangerous in operation. Amazes me that anyone still flies them on set.

    Guys PLEASE, don't do it!

Stitch is right that anything here is preaching to the choir. But the hobby really is already in danger. Things are close to a tipping point. The cat is out of the bag but things will really clamp down when one of these morons hits/hurts someone and the media gets hold of the footage. Negative...
