Newb looking for someone to help (paid consulting) on my first RC FPV quadcopter

I have to agree. I've seen a lot of people come into this with the same attitude,,, can't recall any of them staying with it. It's the same thing as reading a good book vs. having somebody compose the footnotes to brief you about it. If you are serious about exploring this hobby, I would suggest...

    Hexacrafter Brushless Gimbal

Vin buddy, post some pics of her. After all this mumbo-jumbo about the bl's and looking at all of them that I can find the HC bl gimbal looks to be about the most solid in design, so far. Some of these I have seen with minimal construction I just don't get, ( the new HK design comes to mind )...

    Tuned s800 with GH3

Flying cloths-line, I liked that. Hope the better half didn't see the vid? "You got some explaining to do!" And, here I thought I was being imaginative with my 'leaf blowing service'! Krleas, nice test of the new IMU! Looks solid.

New FPV design with 2-axis brushless gimbal

Skysurf, I like that! Nice simple design, rigid as can be, and tons of room. Looking forward to seeing a vid in the air!

    MRF No Clone Zone??

Bart, it's an interesting discussion. Though I agree with the resentment towards clones as a whole, I do recognize that for many it's a viable opportunity to get into the hobby. As such, I feel we, ( you ), have a responsibility to share knowledge to get them up and running. I've been in the...

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

Fantastic footage there, cs8! loved it. Only drawback, and it's just me, but cut out the fast forward parts and you got a winner!

    Another one bites the dust...

Well said, Bowley. Str8up, not arguing that it was or wasn't a near miss. Myself, I would never have attempted something like that. Personally, I felt it was foolish to try. I agree it was the wrong tool for the job. Fact is, a zip line would have been, no doubt. If anybody is to blame here, it...

    Another one bites the dust...

Dazzab, liked your comments to this incident! We all know sh*t happens. Gets proved to us every day. I well remember, when I was a kid, a B52 lost its entire vertical stabilized during a wind shear not far from me. Landed on this poor ol' dirt farmers prize chicken! Done correctly, like this...

    Kopterworx extreme project.

Absolutely amazing! Obviously, the vid doesn't tell the whole story? Fess up, it wasn't that damn easy, was It?

    hexacrafter hc-800

Damn, that it NICE!!! What gimbal you got on there? Is it brushless? How do you compare the 800 kit to the 650? I'm really leaning on one of these.

Changing props for high altitude flying

Jeez, a y6, you really must be at the edge of weight to power there. If it was a battery thing, you would have know when you came back down. I do fly slo-fly props, so that could be the factor. Graups are pretty thin. Plug the data into ecal and see what difference the props make?

Changing props for high altitude flying

My Hexa weight is rather on the fat girl side of things, deffinately over the recommended weight limit I'm sure, though I've never weighed her. I regularly fly above 10000 feet and have had it up to 13000 feet before without modifying anything. Performance was only marginally decreased.

Very good statement about Multirotors, FPV and legal regulation......

I fully agree with him. One thing we can do is to invite our local legislatures out to view and enjoy a gathering, see what we are actually doing. Here in Denver, we have a small group of people who like to gather together on blm land up in the mountains and have a good days fun flying fpv. This...

    WK-M PMU failure

Haven't heard that. Mine has been perfect since I bought it. One recommendation though. If you run the gimbal from the controller, remove the power and put that on a bec instead. That way, if a servo has an issue, ( they are high draw anyway ), it doesn't drain pmu power, which is low amp.

Got a wild hair up my ,,,,

When I first started this mess we call a hobby I started out with a Gaui 330xs. My desire was to learn what it take to make a camera/fpv ship.It failed miserably, but the knowledge gained was invaluable. While sitting home in a drunkem stupor, I decided to make good use of those nice Scorpion...

    hexacrafter hc-800

Hey Kloner, been looking at this kit myself. Looks awesome! Can't wait to see some vids from this. Good luck with her. Got to say though, seems you've been so busy lately that you aren't getting any fun fpv time in. Miss those vids, buddy!

Liked the air so much, she wouldn't come down...

RobetsUp, To begin with, do each esc/motor independently, not all together. To calibrate throttle throw; 1. power off 2. Isolate to one esc/motor combo. 3. Power up radio, move throttle to full high position. 4. Power up esc/motor combo. Motor will beep that it recognises high position. Motor...

Liked the air so much, she wouldn't come down...

Tstrike, my friend, you are also right. You don't need the motors hooked up if you have a programmer. The only thing the motor does is give you an audio indication of status. A programmer gives you a visual indicator.

Liked the air so much, she wouldn't come down...

Robersup, just so you understand, neither the motor nor the esc has a sound chip. The esc emits power To make the motors squeal at a certain frequency. So yes, the motors must be plugged in. You will actually see the motor move just a tiny bit. The esc can send out conflicting power to make the...
