DJI 900mhz Datalink and ground station questions...

For my 900 Mhz GCS system I first had to enable the "free" single waypoint capability within the WKM assistant program. This required a lengthy process thru my dealer which took a few days. Subsequently there was a GCS software program update. But I don't recall procedures for updating firmware...

A2 + Futaba 14SG Signal Loss Failsafe setup

Not aware of it but the concept closely follows the one for the Futaba T8FG Super I think...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck3tu-4UVgg

    Understanding Lithium Polymer batteries

A series of vehicle signal lights...... these are current limiting since the resistance of the light filaments increases due to the heat. This was the way we did it years ago with NiCds.

I've only got one set of hands..... pilot, photographer or both?

Bson......That is an excellent idea... thank you. I have the correct buddy box and correct trainer cable so this is now an option. One remaining issue is that my S800 clone tends to have some yaw drift clockwise or counterclockwise on an out and return flight such as straight done a 500 yard...

    CMROA Guidelines

There is no such thing as 100% safety..... It is all an exercise in risk management. So IMHO even recommending hard shells for LiPo batteries for MRs is over zealous and possibly counterproductive. To make-up for the increased weight so as to regain flight time lost due to excessive weight...

    Motor Balancing

IrisAerial and Kloner..... it seems to be the runout.......pulled the shaft off the bell, cleaned it up and realigned it...... will have to track down a runout gauge soon..... the motor sounds smooth in my bare hands..... but will try it again tomorrow mounted properly.

    Transmitter question

Many years ago a RC Xmitter by the name of Kraft had a single joystick with all functions built in as you describe. I guess it didn't work out....

    Motor Balancing

Kloner... I've decided to follow your excellent advice.....ordered 3 replacements for my fleet, one Hex and the new Cinestar 8. In the meantime I confirmed all bell magnets were solidly mounted and correct polarity then swapped a good motor bell onto the noisy motor and presto.... the vibes...

Higher capacity LiPo's may be on their way

Valuable information...... hope it gets to market quickly. Seems to me that the Turnigy Nano-tech batteries claim to incorporate nanotubes but not sure to what extent that benefits. I was also quite shocked to see that a friend had incredible flight time with his Cinestar 6 using very small...

    Motor Balancing

Thanks all for the valuable feedback..... I will try the various suggestions. Also will take a bell of a previous motor with damaged windings and swap over in case the manufacturer put some magnets in backwards..... Determining if the windings are done correctly would be more difficult. I am...

    Motor Balancing

Tried the zip tie method and found the low weight side, carefully added weight but not much improvement...... the other motors purr to perfection.... but it does not seem possible to reach that level of performance no matter what I try. Maybe I am expecting too much.... I get the impression that...

    Motor Balancing

IrisAerial, No prop hubs on...... I will return to the tiewrap method even though they have to be so large to get around the pan motor circumference. That really throws the weight way off relative to the little motor imbalance that is the root cause of the problem.

    Hello, new with questions!

Should you choose the Futaba RC radios, e.g., T8FG Super which actually has 8 channels on the Tx side...... try to buy it without the 6208SB receiver. You can get the exact same receiver from FrSky for about 1/3 the price...... it has FASST as well as s.bus to be an exact match to the one...

    Hello, new with questions!

I like to use the Turnigy Multistar motors as they are the new pancake style that apparently have a better torque to motor weight ratio. The new carbon fiber paddle props work best with these....... note the special parameter override adjustment for the thinner props in eCalc for Multirotors.

    Hello, new with questions!

Even better are these cell log devices and if you have the time you can do a lot more with it..... they are also a bit more accurate with balance v measurements....

which radio should I choose to dji F550?

The DJI iOSD Mark II provides most telemetry features as an FPV video overlay which is a nice way to go if you want FPV. Also it records a lot of inflight data that can be downloaded after the flight. But if you want GPS Lat long data you have to go with the DJI GCS system....... which enables...

    Brushless Gimbal Weight

IMHO - seems there remains a major limitation with the brushless gimbal concept. The heavier the camera, the more torque is required and that means heavier motors when compared to the conventional servo gimbal control systems. But the servos achieve the required torque by gear reduction and...

    RC control of GH4

Has anyone been able to successfully use the following to control the Panasonic GH4? http://www.rcshutter.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=20&product_id=97 It is not specifically stated in the title/description.

    Hello, new with questions!

IMHO - I strongly recommend you get deeply immersed in eCalc for Multirotors so that you are sure to buy the most appropriate parts at the beginning. There is a lot of multidiscipline engineering skills involved in getting the ARF and RTF kits designed correctly for customers...... well worth...
