What Flight Controller for 20lb x8

Just an update. Had some gusty winds yesterday and before dinner. Swapped flight controllers between 650mm Quad w/ 3520 KDE motors and X8 with Avroto 3515. 1st took the SuperX off my X8 and put it on my 650 quad that was flying beautifully with a Naza V2 GPS w/ KDE 3520's carrying gopro...

Will the hexacopter be able to land safely with motor failure

That was nicely controlled. Was expecting it to spin a bit. What flight controller? The video I watched from DJI on a motor out on a hex showed the hex spinning as it was coming down. On dji, you have to use home or course lock to bring it back when motor/prop out.

Latest Flight testing of CARVEC Brushless Gimbal Controller & Photohigher AV200IDD

I know these things take time, but I'm just wondering if it's working, under development, or something else. It certainly would be interesting to see more samples and more people using it.

Transitioning from DJI to 3DR - Learning Curve?

    1. Fly nicely means I am able to smoothly fly my f450, f550 with both plastic arms where I feel confident and in complete control. I fly mostly in ATTI mode and occasionally in gps mode. I haven't attained the same type of smooth, controllable feeling I have achieved on the Naza with the...

Transitioning from DJI to 3DR - Learning Curve?

I had a 450 and later a 550 on Naza V2 / GPS. Have the naza on a larger 650 w/ bigger motors now and it flies like butter. I'm fighting an x8 with Xaircraft and may try the Naza for a moment. I also have the Pixhawk on the a 450 then swtched to the 550. I'll keep plugging away, but if I had...

    Multi-Impossible, Mōvi_M5/MK Build and Review

Bart, have you flown your xy8 with the Naza V2? If so, what did you think? With the latest hardware and firmware, how hard is it to setup an x8 with the MK FC? I have been scared away from it because of the alleged complexity. Starting to wonder if I should give it a try.

Freefly Movi M5 Brushless Gimbal, Official Users' Thread

That's a pretty long hike with an x8, batteries, and 3axis camera. How many peeps did you use to carry all the gear? Raw footage looks pretty darn good. Wish we all could afford 5k for a gimbal. I B jealous. Curious as to what FC and motors your running on you x8. Thanks for sharing.

    I have $6K - what to buy?

"the Alexmos gimbal controllers continue to be problematic. they're difficult to tune and the settings will be different from one board to another as well as from one camera to another. there's definitely a learning curve and it's steep even after you''ve been using them for a while."...

What Flight Controller for 20lb x8

It is amazing when there is no wind. How do we get to the coders at xAircraft to give us some more settings/ adjustments for the wind or fast flight? I gotta believe it can tuned in their software if they would put some effort into it.

What Flight Controller for 20lb x8

I've considered trying a DJI WKM, but it just seems like I'd be going backwards to older technology. It may come to me trying one, but for now, I have the luxury of waiting this out.

What Flight Controller for 20lb x8

Got a couple quick flights in tonight before rain started. Pretty calm and x8 flew like butter and new 32bit alexmos performed pretty good considering it's on the 3rd try on it and I did nothing to it since last flight. It's a Jekyll and Hyde situation. I guess my issues are more with the...

What Flight Controller for 20lb x8

I've some experience with Hoverfly, Naza V2, xAircraft, & Pixhawk. Hoverfly and xAircraft on the x8, the others on quads. Looking for opinions from those whom fly or have tried a low kv x8 system (say 18 or more lbs) and what your thoughts are on flight controllers. I'm not overjoyed with...

Where do I buy all this stuff?

Kloner posted this a while back on how he does the Fiber Carbon arms. For aluminum, one might have to build up one side as opposed to sand down the side. Or in my case, I make my own motor mounts and they are pretty thick, so I could sand them down, but that seems it might be more work than...

    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

I'm guessing they will want to make sure they are more expensive than all other product on the market. Hoping I'm wrong on the price.

KDE Direct has added Multi-Rotor Heli motors to their lineup

Kloner, If you were going to just fly the gh4 with kde 3520's and were looking for 15-20 minute flight times with 2x8000 mah 6s batteries, would you go to a hex or stick with an octo or maybe x8 (if you could find a decent fc for the x8). Also curious as to what FC you'd use this week.

Where do I buy all this stuff?

"I'm curious how the square booms you've switched to are secured, and how they're adjusted for level when initially setting them up. I understand that they should hold their alignment better once set correctly, but I wonder if it's a PITA to set the first time." Nothing special. No PITA for...

    XAircraft SuperX on heavy lifter

I've heard peeps love the quads and hex's w/ SuperX. It seemed only the x8 config that peeps have complaining about. Surprised on your hex. I believe Mr Kloner flies heavy weight hex's (worth 10's of thousands of $$) on the SuperX or at least did till a few weeks ago when he decided to do a...

    I have $6K - what to buy?

I can't help on the frame as I don't have any that fold. Mine go in my car or van. I do know I'd probably go with the KDE 3520 motors. I have 4 on a quad and I fly a 3 axis gopro or 2 axis gimbal with hacked gh2 and just his week flew it with the gh3. Slow flying was pretty good but not...
