It should spin with a standard esc, but it will be slow. Try a 3s. As for removing the stator, I guess it will depend on which brand and how it was put together, if they glue it in, then it would be hard to get it out, but use a vice to press it out.

Hummm... it's my EOS rebel, it only does still, no video. That's why I am going to have to use a GoPro with some weight to check the video. But from holding my hand on the camera when it move, I can feel if there's jittery... doesn't feel any. So I would guess the video should be as smooth...

Some teasing video... got in a few more boards... decided to give the DSLR a quick test. From my observation, look like it was able to move the DSLR as good as the GoPro, same motor. Motor does seem to be running warmer. Further testing would be putting the gopro, but a a extra 800grams of...

Look like my local Best Buy have the Nex5-R/K (whatever that K mean) in stock.... since today is a special day, I think I'll just run down there and get myself one. :) Happy Valentines to me!

Wait, you wanted a Nex5 gimbal, but you're trading your nex5...? either you have 2 nex5 or planning to switch to the newer one? :) I don't think I have a need for the wifi function, unless you can contact the camera function with your phone, but doesn't look like it. The reason why I want...

Well, it look like I'm going to have to get a Nex5n... :( But look like Sony is going to discontinue the Nex5n? Can't find it at any local retail store, BestBuy, Frys... ect? Been looking on Ebay, but kind of sketchy...

I would like to know how many of you guys are interested in a Nex5 gimbal? 1. Are you using HDMI video out or small FPV cam? If using HDMI, how small of a cable can you get so it won't restrict the gimbal, can you get just the HDMI plug and solder super thin wire? 2. What is exceptable...

The roll motor has been modify to a 5mm shaft and bigger bearings. It feel like it's still moving smoothly under all the load. But who know if it can hold under stress. Might have to attached some 30-50lbs fishing line from the camera to the copter... just in case. :D

Hey Danny, So you think having the camera sliding back and forth about 30cm should be enough to balance the difference lens? I have a friend who's into machining and we are partnering up. But darn it's hard to do this without the actual camera. I am worry about the memory card, I saw a...

Can anyone with a Nex5 tell me what lens are normally use for AP? and where about does the camera balance from the mounting screw?

    My brushless gimbal result

I am pretty sure it can handle a CX730 or Nex5 ect no problem at all. The gimbal I am working on now the camera plate is 170mm. 5D size. :) Let us pray the motor can handle it.

Yup, that's the issue. Right now the stock shaft is 3.17mm, I don't think the roll can handle the weight. It can be somewhat easy to change the bearing to allow 4mm shaft. But I was thinking to bore out the tower and change it to a 5mm shaft. 5mm shaft will do... no need for 6-8mm.

I have not test it, but I believe the motor have enough to run a dslr. Even Alex himself said it should be able too. The biggest factor here is the balancing of the camera, if it's perfectly balance then the motor is only compensating for the bearing friction. I'm working on a DSLR mount...

Hummm... 2-3 weeks... maybe a total of 30 hours.... Wounding the motor was a b$4$4... figured out the vibration is another pain. When I first tunned the system, it was hard, because I couldn't tell how good the stabilizing was, remove the memory card and watch the video... did that like 30...

    My brushless gimbal result

I am not sure yet, since we don't have the money or man power to manufacture the board... we have to wait and partnering up with others. At first I thought FPVmodel agree to share the production with us on the board, but they then decided not to sell the board alone. So right now I don't...
