Not off to a good start in the new year...

Wow. I wouldn't have thought a single motor out would cause that violent of a flip on a hexa. Ken, can you be certain the ESC didn't burn up after impact?

Ken, so sorry to see this. Hope you can isolate the exact cause. nick

    Picloc 3x setting experience etc.

Hey George, maybe I've missed this somewhere but since servos are so critical to the optimum operation of the PicLoc maybe you can guide us a little to what are the ideal specs we should be looking for. Obviously their are hundreds of permutations with so many gimbal, servo and camera weight...

    Hi from Western Washington USA

Hey Ron, I missed your post until now. Welcome to the forum. There are at least a few crazy guys in the greater Seattle area flying multi-rotors. :D They are a blast for sure. For now I've mostly abandoned all my other poor RC helis. Looking forward to reading about your build. Maybe we'll run...

    Picloc 3x setting experience etc.

Hi George, good to have you on this forum. Hopefully you can get Boris taken care of quickly. Is their any definitive way others can identify faulty units in advance, i.e. maybe a self-test or diagnostic check via USB? Or is installing and running them the only way to identify a fault? nick

Mikrokopter Un-commanded Yaw Issue ! Someday's Mikrokopters Just Weren't Meant to Fly !

I was wrong in my comment above. Adjusting the PID's was beneficial for the weight and size of the copter but the setting that eliminated my yaw problems was to change the value of "Compass effect" on the Misc tab to zero. If you do this you can not fly waypoints or use CF but it makes yaw...

Flight times, temperatures and all that

As a point of comparison I've got a Cinestar8 with an AUW of 5602g using two 4S/45C/6600mAh batts and I typically get a flight time of 12:30 (low batt setting of 14v) with average BL-CTRL temps of 50°C (max temps ranged from 49 to 62°C) and average current of 53A. Ambient temp was 9°C. Using...

    Picloc 3x setting experience etc.

Boris, I've been following your progress closely. I received a Pro unit last week but still waiting on a gimbal (CS PAN) so I haven't been able to do anything meaningful with it yet. Hoping to coordinate with Tabb and get it on a prototype gimbal to test how it does. Concerning the "Gyro...

30 Min flight time whit fully packed octo

Some very negative stuff in this thread. A shame. Something to always keep in mind is how battery technology improves constantly and not always on a linear curve. It is entirely possible that new chemistries would render this challenge moot in a year or two.

    Basic Guide to FPV?

Ray, Jake posted some good links above. I'm just starting to fly FPV with my cinestar8 and it's some of the most exciting and fun flying I've ever done. Still pretty clumsy in the air but I'm improving with time and I can really see the potential for this type of operation. The choices for...

Mikrokopter Un-commanded Yaw Issue ! Someday's Mikrokopters Just Weren't Meant to Fly !

Those are Anderson Power Pole connectors. Highly reccomended. Solved the yaw issue. It was not related to the batteries or wiring. I just needed to adjust my compass and yaw gyro settings in MKTool. In hindsight the real issue I think was that the default settings in MKTool are intended for...

    Picloc 3x setting experience etc.

For a rough initial test that video looks good. Hope to have my 3X soon and I can join your efforts. Interesting about the out of balance performance. Maybe because of the pre-load already on the servo pot?

    MK vs. DJI adv list

Interesting to see so many negative comments regarding MK. I'm new to multis so my perspective is limited and I don't pretend to know all the politics but I've been impressed with the support from Holger. Not only from the replies to my PM's on the .de forum but his participation in those forums...

Mikrokopter Un-commanded Yaw Issue ! Someday's Mikrokopters Just Weren't Meant to Fly !

It's a flat 8 configuration. 2.1ME flt-ctrl, 2.0 navi-ctrl, 2.0 bl-ctrl's and 2.1 GPS board. 86d firmware. In my case I don't think ESC temps are causing these yaw's. All temps are below 35°C and everything is cool to the touch. I have seen the EMI videos on the MK site and it does seem like...

Mikrokopter Un-commanded Yaw Issue ! Someday's Mikrokopters Just Weren't Meant to Fly !

Guys, did you ever isolate what was causing your yaw problem? I'm having a similar issue but the yaws are usually subtle and only seem to happen in a hover (randomly) or when i feather to a stop from slow forward flight. The machine usually corrects itself after a few seconds. When I first built...

    Sony NEX-5

That photo was taken mid way thru the process. It does have a video ground cable now among others. I looked at the HDMI connector carefully and I'm going to leave mine alone. It would be nice to hard wire it but the traces are too small and delicate for my soldering equipment and old eyes.

    Sony NEX-5

Missed that. The size of the PCB is 80x107mm. It could have been smaller based solely on the layout and IC's on the board. They essentially stretched the board to accommodate the large connectors and fit the form factor of the aluminum enclosure. Without those things I bet it could be half that...
