If you are checking the motors by holding the quad while throttling up the highest motor won't spin as fast as the others. Try flying it first but not in the house, just in case. If it still won't fly it's probably because one of the ESC's is compromised. If I'm not mistaken the ESC's are built...
If this is the Syma X8G it has brushed motors. Check to make sure the prop isn't contacting the shell. Does it spin freely before and after assembly? The motor gear train could be jamming together or miss-aligning when installing the shell. Look for plastic flashing that may be interfering with...
If you're serious about this kind of drone work consider eventually upgrading to (or better yet build) an Octocopter, either 8 arms or 4 arms with back to back motors. In case a motor goes out on you while flying you have a better chance of landing safely with your expensive camera, a quad just...
I'll add my 2 cents to the discussion. Lots of good advice from John and photojunky. It seems more like you want to run first instead of learning to crawl. Get a toy like the Syma X5c or the X5SW if you want to experience dummied down FPV or anything in that size class. Wltoys makes small quads...
Another possibility to look for would be a motor mounting screw grounding the power leads inside the motor. I fried a Sunnysky 2204 and ESC when I used screws just a little bit too long to mount the motors. The power leads inside the motor go directly under one of the mounting holes, bad...
Yea, it's the reins of the 1% who control the government and this country, not our "elected" puppet politicians. I've been smelling it since Reagan encouraged the Service Sector (wage slave) economy and Market (screw the consumer) Economics.
I was trying to emphasize that that website is trying to divert money into their pockets when people can just as easily, and much cheaper, do it through the FAA. That's why I'm calling it a scam site.
I just visited the site again and they have taken down any mention of money from the front...
I ran across a website offering drone registration for essentially $24 plus the $5 FAA fee. They offer a custom made label for an additional $10. I suspect it's a scam designed to snag noobs. Check it out at:

If I'm off base let me know...
I watched the latest broadcast with Patrick Egan. He was talking about the trouble with getting the politicians and bureaucrats to listen to our concerns with the new FAA requirements. What those people are lacking is a suitcase full of money to "donate" to the politicians. The only way to get...
I know I was surprised when you said that. I'm looking at that thing and going "say what?" You might have said mini but I don't want to go back through the video to find it again. (maybe later...) It seems a little large to even fit in the mini category. I'm assuming that what you...
Due to faulty memory I didn't get to live view the latest episode but did watch it later. Looks like the new camera position is working much better. Good interviews, technical glitch aside. Even the local news casters can get things thoroughly screwed up, dialog doesn't match the picture/video...
I did notice that the camera to Bart's left (the viewers right) seemed to frame the two of you much better and didn't force either of you to look awkward.
Just doing my phart ;) (sic)
Just got done watching the show, some of the interviews were verging on being long winded but I stuck it out to the end. There were a few slow motion video artifacts during the show but nothing like what happened during the first show. I half expected Bart to start...
