I'm a huge fan of X8. I set up a Vulcan frame as an XY, and it handles beautifully. The props in view did become an issue, but we've remedied that issue with all z arms. No issues with arm flex, but the bottom motor mounts must be shimmed to drop the props about 3/8 to 1/2" in order to avoid...
Higher rpm's and smaller props = more stable
I've built 3 different X 8 quads lately, and I'm a believer now. I love X8 configurations. My favorite to fly out of all of my copters ( helis 800 size to 450 and multis 1200 Octo to Estes micro) is my Hobby King Dead Cat frame set up as an X8. It...

When the first s800's were released there was a problem with the esc's. At first it was recommended that we jump the 6 almost microscopic resistors on each esc, then they just offered to swap the old esc's for new ones. I did it, and it was a nightmare. The problem that occurred was almost...
Jon, If I were you I'd recommend getting that scuba gear out! I have lost an s800 in a lake, retrieved it, disassembled the electronics and dried them in rice, lubed the motor bearings, and it still works beautifully. I also know of a local guy who had the same experience with a Phantom. If you...
A zenmuse will work beautifully with nothing on it. If you manipulate the camera until you find a "balanced" position, where everything will sit level, I see no reason why it wouldn't work. I've re-balanced mine after a crash, and it's really not a big deal.
