I have no objection to them coming up with a licensing structure for UAS. I just think they need to have different levels of licensing. A person who plans on doing aerial photography for realtors and such, who never plans on going over 400', shouldn't have to become a full fledged commercial...
The requirement for an RC operator to have a commercial pilots license is beyond laughable. It's like demanding that a person, who brings firewood across a lake in a canoe for a fee, obtain a ship captians license.
Poor guy...his first 3 (and only) posts were to show people his video. Everybody makes stupid mistakes, and at least he was smart enough to pull it if the video showed bad practices.
Yup! I just received this from the FAA's attorney. I have to say that I'm shocked he responded so quickly...he must be getting slammed right now!
"The interpretation will publish in the Federal Register tomorrow, at that time it will be available in the docket for comment. The document that...

This is an "interpretation" of their definition of model aircraft in their already existing regulations. So it takes effect immediately and gives them something to use to go after model aircraft pilots that are operating in a way they disagree with. This announcement also prohibits all...
If you feel that $479 is too expensive then your probably going to be stuck building your own quad, but that isn't a very easy thing to do unless you are familiar with multi-rotor power systems and programming flight control boards. The phantom wouldn't be compatible with your Spektrum TX out...
I thought Photohigher gimbals were considered really nice gimbals? Could the problem be due to your gimbal being brushless and maybe it can't handle the weight of your camera? Is your octo holding steady while the gimbal is moving with the wind?
I bought an AD6 frame off a friend and it came with a spare dome and a bunch of the shorter cf arm tubes. I was thinking about using those arms, and the spare dome, to build an inexpensive X quad and using the electronics out of another quad that I have for it. Do any of you know of any...

While I agree that it would be in bad form for anyone and everyone to fly over a public event, the regulations they mention in the article don't apply to RC aircraft. The RI Aeronautics...
Seriously please do some research on LiPo batteries and please don't put your MR back up in the air until you understand what you are doing. This isn't meant as a jab, I just don't want you to ruin your gear or hurt yourself or anyone else. Running a battery too low can easily cause it to puff...
