Hi, Really sorry for your loss.
A few thoughts regarding your post : if you switch return to home (RTH) in atti mode, it won't take it. You must be in Atti-GPS. (I did the experiement yesterday with a new Hexa unit). But if you are flying attitude mode, and you are switching off your radio, the...
I've done a few flights with 5.16 and 3 of them at 90m high and it flew quite well (octo with spektrum DX8). I still need to adjust a bit the gain settings as it tends to wobble when descending.
Thanks for your reply and the nice videos Arnold.
Your bird is very stable. Is it as stable in windy conditions? Mine is stable only if it's very low wind.
I also read that the Octocopter with s-bus receiver were not affected by the glitch.
I use a traditional receiver and I would like to hear...
I have downloaded the version 5.12 with my Octo.
Then when I powered it, I had some power bursts into motor #7 and #8 when idle. I have tried to fly but the bird was very unstable.
I did not insist and had a look at the forums : people were warning octo users about issues with this firmware...
Well, you are definitely in North Hemisphere.
The problem you describe here is exactly what we have in SH. It's also known as the "toilet bowl" effect.
You can try to do the following :
Off set your GPS unit about 20° on left or right.
In my case, It didn't make any difference, but some people...
Where are you located Videodrone ?
If you are in South Hemisphere, the problem is coming from your GPS. It is not damaged, it just doen't work in SH and nobody knows why. I live in NZ and have exactly the same issue.
DJI is aware of the problem and they will supply shortly a new GPS (V2) device...
Like Fritz99, I would like to know more about your feelings regarding the waypoints feature.
Is it reliable ?
What are the pros and cons ?
Has anybody tried in South hemisphere ?
Any info will be appreciated.
I had to wait for better weather conditions to give it a try.
I tried to move the GPS to the left and to the right aswell, but it didn't work. It's even worse.
I had Kim (from photohigher) on phone and he received a new GPS unit from DJI. He told me that he should make a trial session hopefully...
What happened during those both crashes ?
You lost power, or control ?
I have a very similar config with an AV200 (360) but smaller props (APC 12") and AXi motors.
I think that centralizing the power is wiser but I would like to warn you if you are still thinking about using 4S batteries.
I...
I had high expectations after the new firmware release. I fly in NZ and as many of you may know, we have a toilet bowl issue when using GPS/atti flying mode : the bird starts flying away in a counterclockwise circle pattern going larger and larger (and also faster).
With the new firmware...
Talking about props I would like to try the Graupner ( as they really seem to be good props) instead of my APC 12x3.8 , but I don't know which one would be appropriate as they don't seem to provide the same size.
APC are not so great as none of them were balanced, particularly the core.
I have...
HI NZvideoguys,
Your video is scary, especially when you hit the top of the tree. Good to know that it ended well though.
I did fix most of my wobbling issues by adjusting the Z axis with CoG. I did lower the Z value 1cm each time, and the wobbles got lower and lower (with no wind conditions).
Hi aerialcamsNZ,
Welcome to the forum.
It is good to know other people using a similar configuration in NZ.
I was wondering if you tried the "return to home " feature.
Personnally, I did not. Till the GPS hold position is not fixed, I don't really trust it.
Also, what are your gain settings ...
Toilet bowl in NZ strikes back
Hi there,
I am quite new here and I live in NZ (Tauranga area). I recently purchased an Otco droidworks & WKM from Kim's (photohigher).
The Octo is flying well in Atti mode and I usually get a good GPS signal (no red lights) within a minute.
When I switch to...
