Phantom 2 H3-3D Motor/Prop Upgrades for extremely high altitude take off

I have a filming assignment in Bolivia, which will require a fair bit of trekking, which limits potential multirotor size and weight, and so am investigating if there are any motor/prop upgrade options that might allow for flying at nearly 4700m above sea level. I noticed that someone has flown...

    Hi! Rahul Vyas from India

Hey Guys, My brother lives in Kerala, and I'm planning a trip to visit him. Of course I'm hoping to take a multi-rotor (my TBS Discovery Pro at a minimum). I was wandering if you had any information on what the authorities have to say about multi-rotors and if it is possible to get...

Has anyone got any experience of working with this camera and prepared to offer any insights? Thanks Barny

$15 and more reliable alternative to RSGS/AV200 combo

After inconsistency and frustration with the AV200 and RSGS combo, yesterday, and a small mishap, I was forced into coming up with a quick solution for a camera mount for a 5Dmk3 on a Skyjib.. I grabbed my gorilla tripod, and some cable ties, and came up with what you can see in the pic...

Always break the same direction prop?

I've been flying multi-rotors for a few years now, and for some unknown reason, if I break a prop it always seems to be a CCW one.. I would estimate 12 out of 14 broken props have been CCW - the most common cause being landing on a slope and the multi tipping. Has anyone else experienced...

Designing a multi-rotor for very high endurance

Thanks guys, some really interesting stuff there. That X16 is quite a beast I have to say. Although it's always good to have redundancy I think we may be stuck with a simple on quad on the basis that ideally it will be backpack portable by rangers who are on patrol. This obviously also means...

Designing a multi-rotor for very high endurance

I have been asked to propose a multi-rotor for use by anti-poaching patrols in East Africa. They want rangers to be able to launch a multi-rotor so they can scout the ground ahead to avoid walking into an ambush, and in the event of a contact, to locate the poachers before engaging. All the...

Flying at very high altitude - anyone managed 5,895 m (19,341 ft) ASL???!!??

I have been asked to fly at the Summit of Kilimajaro 5,895 m (19,341 ft) for a cinematic shot resembling a scene out of the film highlander, except subject will be a man on a phone! I have messed with ecalc and cannot for the life of me come up with rig modifications that will reliably work at...

    NAZA and GPS IOC

I want to try and use the Naza Intelligent Orientation Control (IOC) in a similar way to using the Point of Interest (POI) feature on WKM. As I understand it, in Home Lock, you need to be at least 10 metres from the home location, but will the craft then circle that location keeping it's...

Aeronavics / Droidworx XM-6 build nearly complete, any advice or criticism very welcome!

Still need to tweak the RSGS a bit - but not totally upset with the results I'm getting, especially as it was quite windy.. will put the rig through its paces on Sunday filming a stage of the Kenya National Rally Championships..

Aeronavics / Droidworx XM-6 build nearly complete, any advice or criticism very welcome!

My AUW is a fairly hefty 5.1kg - although the Hex still handles great, I am only getting 5 minutes of flight time if I want to keep 30% in the lipo.

Aeronavics / Droidworx XM-6 build nearly complete, any advice or criticism very welcome!

The Spektrum Rx has been truly tried and tested on an F550 flamewheel.. sadly the lipos are not new, would have gone 5s and dual lipo if I could have justified new batteries! You have to be quite wary doing the range test with a Spektrum DX8 as it limits the power output, so if you don't power...
