Strange Problem, no picture?

I haven't flown in a little while and when I went to try and power up my FPV set up today I could not get a picture. I am using a 5.8 system from range video and a gopro, (for now, i know gopros aren't the best for this). When I turn on everything I get black screen with a little static, when I unplug the TX or change the channels I get white static. So I know the RX and TX are interacting some what but I am not getting an image. I went over all the solders to make sure nothing came loose and tried a few channel combos. Its puzzling because I have not changed anything about the set up. I'm hoping this is just an dummy oversight but if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Make sure you have the correct channel on both, but change them to something different, go through them one by one if you have to. When I used those tx and rx I had the same issue and it was the channel. Some worked better than others I found.

Hey Kloner, glad you joined the conversation. So here is an update on symptoms. First off, i tried multiple channels. When I am on the correct channel, that is to say the RX and TX match, the screen goes almost solid black with a little static. The farther I get from a channel match the more white static comes up until it is completely white noise. There is power lights and heat from both TX and RX. When I go through the gopro buttons, like record and menu select I get a little static blip on the screen that matches the beep of the go pro. I only have a video out, so I can not test whether the TX is sending audio. It might be a broken TX although nothing has changed about the setup from when it did work and the FPV gear has not taken any hits or falls. The other thing would be the video cable out of the gopro, however its the same question, what changed from two weeks ago when it was working fine?

Replaced the video out cable from the gopro. Now I am able to get a scrabbled porn... I mean tv look. I can see the colored image coming through all the noise. I'm starting to think its a broken transmitter, the static picture seems to be affected by touching the transmitter.

it's hard to say........ usuallt that look is the wrong channel between the two.

has the vtx been ran without a antenna? the voltage going to them is dead on?
