A friend of mine is in charge of the hf funfly both as mc and a rep from the club. I had asked if he thought there would be any interest in Multi rotors, fpv, any of that. He came back at me with we don't want no god dam multirotors in the way. last year we had one guy that was a total pain in the *** with them things. if anybody you know is coming and acting like selling, you better tell them to be registered for it or there going to be escorted back out the gate.

Ok, nevermind...... i had heard a few wanting to go from here, watch out for Kevin

This is as close to helifreak turning into Runryder as i've ever seen. they make you pay to hang a banner..... i'm over them people and there crap. I oughta fpv from the hilltops right through the flight line 100 miles an hour inverted....

Maybe not quite on the scale of the H/F event, but we're (NEHC - http://nehelicrew.com/phenomenon) having our big event of the year this weekend and for the first time we're having multirotors be a part of it along with the usual 3D and Scale helis. Wasn't hard to get it on the schedule, the president of the club is into multis and I'm on the steering comittee so the NEHC is definitely multirotor friendly. ;)

I'll be doing aerial work during the event, stills and video using my Cinestar 6 with newly setup and almost dialed in RSGS stabilization system on the AV130 gimbal. I'm also scheduled to do a multirotor clinic sort of thing both Friday and Saturday as well as flying some FPV with monitors setup for the attendees to watch on, should be interesting.

I'll have video and pics after the weekend.

that's why i was kinda pissed but i see his point. He's building one of these things, it's more of a to keep the 3d guys quiet.... theres alot of pros, 3 day weekend, still a prick. Finless, Will James, the whole hf crew will be there,,,,,

If the ama alienates me much more i'm outta there. Straight bandanas and blurred out osd info,,,,, hahahaha I'm still carrying a membership, belong to clubs, keep treating me like crap because of the angle i choose to play and i'll take my share and time to the clubs home. I try keeping a open mind with the uas ruling help, but tell me how many Pro photographers that are gonna profit form all that are supporting them now? I've been with em since 1993, number starts with a 5, i was 23 years old

Yeah, man I hear ya. I feel it's kinda a interesting community. On one side AMA is trying to fight the good fight for The RC industry, but that mostly in tails the retail side similar to lobbyist for big companies trying to stay in business before it all goes to he'll. But as far as the UAS community its going to be gorilla tactics, and plain stubbornness as we try to pursue into the future.

It's all over the place man, all I can say is get while the gettin is good, and all hands abandon ship when gettin gets well u know.

Awe just tell them what I tell them, it's not for commercial use, I'm just flying my toy.

DO it Kloner - WKLocos got your back. Dont let my next comment discourage you.

On another note - I made the comment at my local field last week that the FPV crowd and Non FPV RC guys - are getting a bit ridiculous. Alot like the snowboard vs skiing thing. In the immortal words of the recently passed Rodney King - "Cant we all just get along?" I think if the straight RC crowd would just try FPV, they would like it and if the FPV guys would stop posting videos 3000 feet above a highway etc. they would find some more love. Just my thoughts at 6 in the morning.

I should also probably mention that some of the local AMA field regulars didnt know what to think of my MR's. For whatever reasons they had all these safety concerns. However, after a short demo and lots of explanation - mostly true - they were sort of believers. I did have to promise some aerial footage of their birds. It seemed more of their problems were related to FPV. I explained to them that not everyone doing FPV is being irresponsible, just like everyone flying an RC P-51 is not being responsible. WE recently had a P-51 find its way to the parking lot - and a Merc SUV.

point taken,,,, this is like anything, theres gonna be guys doing this, doing that. Just cause cars have rules doesn't mean people don't use em wrong and create more harm than good. It is an unfortunate way people approach stuff the way they do

My personal club has the only mikrocopter i've ever been around, it's front and center in all the outings, shows, etc. Flys it without looking at it from his pc and waypoints. Any old man at our club on any given day has the power to kill any one of us. We got a fence around the pits, can't tell you how many props and front halfs of planes come flying through the pits after hitting the fence wide open.

The flying high part, well, dunno if people will ever change doing that and i'm sure it'll get worse as the stuff gets easier to get your hands on but you aint gonna catch kloner into it. Theres too much fun in proximity flying skimming the ground to be had for me to give a crap about a cloud.......

did you see the ad for a rtf 550 here, guy flew down los angeles streets over cars and crap...... it was posted yesterday i think, check it out. Applo field if that's the same one i know is a huge rc spot in Los Angeles. They used to hold this event there, then it moved to diego. I think it's in Watts,,,,,,, dangerous place

Kloner I admire your skills and think what you are doing is phenomenal. Except for the fact it just cost me a bunch of money :) I wanted to point out that (and I hate to use the word old guys) but alot of old guys at my local AMA Field (55 miles away) just dont get the MR or the FPV stuff. However, given a decent explanation and demo - it seems they can be swayed. Made me wonder about the 3d guys at the upcoming event. again i will relate it to skiing. i am of the opinion its fun todo it all. I tele - board - and ski. Skiing happens to be what i am fairly good at. But i find all the guys that ski and complain about boarders either havent tried it, or cant do it. THey just like to complain. gotta wonder if one of these very accomplished 3d heli guys got a MR in their hands if they wouldnt change their opinion. anyways - i wish i could 3d a heli but i cant so i will stick with the MR's :)

i was snowboarding in the early 90's. Trust me, i know all about the tension.

Agreed, i guess that's why they like the dork with the pc flown heli, but man, you show up with goggles and a controller in your hand you'd think they thought you were taliban. It's too bad, but they'll move on and the youth love this stuff...... Too bad i'll be a grumpy old man by then

When i say we got old guys at out club, i aint kidding, 80+ yo all over the place. Half don't even fly anymore, can't see or just can't do it. When i'd fly my scale helis for em i'd get an applause, then one day it all changed.........

they put up with all that and loved it...... then one day a mr came along in my life and it all changed

I use to belong to a local club here, helped start it, was in it for 20+ years.
When heli's first came out it was a real fight to get the club to let them fly. Well, back then they WERE dangerous, I admit, back before gyro's. However, my stand was, it's a model, it flys, it belongs here.
Didn't exactly endear myself with the club then but I helped to get them in.

Towards the end of my plank days I got involved with 1/3rd scale, again before the arf days, all scratch built to my own plans.
There was one other guy in the club doing it, also.
They gave us so much static we ended up quitting the club. I go out there today, occasionally, and that's a major part of what is flying.

That's what I love about srh and multi, any open field will do. I'm fortunate to live where there is so much open land. But, that's where a lot of the problems come from. If there is one thing flying in a club teaches you is that these things ARE dangerous. If it flys it dies, just a matter of when.
Today, with so many people getting into it, park flyers, srh and multi, not many people get involved with clubs and have to learn the safety thing all on there own first hand.

very true..... i think that's why ama created the park flyer clubs. there limited in model size and weight, but it makes people at said park flying when the new guy shows up.

Look at this guy

click the youtube link, seriously? Thats smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles if that's the apollo field i think it is, apollo field is also an ama club over there somewhere. Thats where the helifreak funfly used to be held

i hadn't watched the whole thing to the end. he flies right into the club, all the members around, how the hell does he get away with that? or is that what ruined it for the rest of us......... i see a bunch of guys my age, probably why

Man, that is a NICE place! Didn't care much to see him fly over the road, just no need for that, but what great legs he's got on that bird! 12 minutes. Loved the guy checking on how much time his buddy had left on the timer, and the guy backing up to dive behind the fence if need be.

Been to L.A. once, never again! Too many people for this mountain bred boy. Any big city, really. Did field service work to damn near every auto plant around the world. NYC was the worst. Had to fly into there to get to the plant in Newark. Australia, anywhere in South America was my favorite. People in Detroit hated me walking into a bar wearing my Bronco jacket. Programmed an HMI display there to once a month go black for 10 seconds and pop up in red letters, "Red Wings suck"! Boy, did I ever hear about that when they caught on!
Outside Cleveland in Lorain I put a screen saver of Elway's, 'the drive' on a display. Somebody broke into the cabinate and smashed the monitor! No sence of humor there.
