Naza GPS - Lock times in Southern Hemishpere. Does it work?

Hi. I have a fully stock F450 with Naza + GPS. Flies OK but the GPS either doesn't obtain a lock when I plug it in (3 red lights flash for ages or it takes 5min+ to obtain a lock). Are there problems with the Naza GPS obtaining a lock in the Southern Hemishpere? I am in New Zealand.

I have it mounted on the stick that comes with the device. Last night I managed to obtain a full lock. Today it just sits there for over 10 minutes flashing red three times never obtaining a lock. Earlier today I managed to get it down to flashing red once. Nothing has changed! Fitted the GPS 24hrs ago and have only managed one flight with no red flashing. Why is it now refusing to obtain any satellites?

were are you flying exactly. On an open field or in between houses or you backyard ?

Normally it should take 1 to 2 mins in a free open field.

Don't think there are anymore SH specific problems, and the NAZA gps modules were produced were they already new whats going on etc.

Just did some troubleshooting. Took the Naza off and placed it away from the quad on the grass. It appears to be the FrSky Telemetry receiver causing inteference. If it gets too close to that the solid green flashing turns red and when I move it away it goes green again. I have mounted it on the arm furthest away from the receiver and it obtains a lock. Hopefully will help any other newbies out if they have telemetry kit!

cool that you found it right away !

Is normally always these steps.

First clear up what the expectations are how fast and were the lock should happen. There are people who get nervous if they don't get a lock in their apartment house etc.

Second rearrange components etc.

Fail again. I went to use it today and left it for 10 minutes to get a lock and it got down to one red flash then lost it all again and went to three red flashes. I moved the GPS unit away from the quad and it randomly obtains a lock. I just don't get it! I don't have another receiver to try a non-telemetry one but could that even be the issue?

I bought the Naza GPS from the UK but now live in NZ so do they release a different version for the northern and southern hemisphere?

FWIW I turn on the Naza & GPS first, then once it's locked-on I then turn on the camera then the FPV gear. I found with other GPS devices that if there's interference then they often have trouble locking-on, but once they have they can then live with a bit of interference and still work okay.

Unfortunately the telemetry is built into the receiver so if that is the problem I can't power on the Naza first as it just flashes yellow due to no receiver found. The receiver cannot be set to not send telemetry (even though I am not using it yet!).

Did another flight half an hour so and timed how long the GPS took to get a good green light - about 15 seconds.
That was, as mentioned above, just powering the NAZA/GPS first then once it was locked-on the camera then FPV gear.
