I cannibalized my Naza F450 kit to create a larger, more powerful hexa. In spite of having a bit of finishing touches left (like covering/hiding the electronics), I must say I’m really pleased with the first couple of brief test flights. Still to do is some fine tuning of the flight controls, and in-flight testing of the camera mount & gimbal. And there will likely be some experimentation of batteries and props.
Here’s the particulars if you’re interested:
From the F450, I borrowed the Naza flight controller and the four ESCs. To that I added:
I had absolutely no difficulty migrating or configuring the Naza to the new platform. During the process I also incorporated gimbal control and it worked fine during ground testing. The AUW is 5lb. 9oz. (2514g) without battery or camera. Here’s a pic:

- HD Landing Gear, Medium Camera Mount, and Motor & Boom Mounts - from x486.
- Avroto M2814-11S Motors and two additional DJI 30A Opto ESCs from Hobby-Drones.
- Booms-Outrage Velocity 50 Tail Booms (cut in half) from Rc Super Sales.
- Multirotor Power Distribution Board (AFROPOWER) from AbuseMark.
- APC 12 x 3.8 Props from AlleRC.
- Misc. screws and connectors from various sources.
