Custom Frame Design!!!

Hey guys check out my custom quadcopter frame. We're calling this the "Cine-Mini"!

We've angled the front arms up in order to achieve high speed shots while avoiding props getting into the picture. To my knowledge, this is the only quad frame out there that has these upward angled arms. Our frame is high strength aluminum, and only weighs 105 grams!! Compare that with the F450 which weighs 282 grams).

We're also in the process of producing a complete instructional video series for those interested in custom builds.

You weren't kidding when you said "frame." :) Do you have any shots of it with some center area to put gear on it? Or motor mounts???

Also, from an engineering standpoint, I'm curious if you have gotten it to the flying stage yet - and how the raised arms will effect the FCs ability to keep level.

We have one photo on our main page that shows the center plate and battery table installed. Check it out here:

We got the inspiration for our design from our cinematography rig, which we are using the Vulcan UAV Octocopter frame, which features two upward angled arms in the front. We've worked in the past with other multi rotor builders who have experimented with rotors on different planes and have found that the flight controllers can balance the rig out. Where you get into trouble is if the rotors are too close together, sending backwash into one another. Although it will still have a stable flight, the motors will work harder resulting in reduced flight time. With this design, we intend to use 9" props, which should leave a good amount of space to avoid that issue. We'll be documenting our process along the way, along with a complete build tutorial. Check back soon!

Gotcha. I saw that photo - but misread the different weight as being a different frame. Its a neat idea - and Id love to folow your progress. Like to see people pushing the envelope with new ideas.

Good luck on the build, and I look forward to following your progress.
