first time builder

Built my first quadcopter and it doesn't work. I have a quadrino zoom powered by my battery and the J1 jumper soldered. My receiver works because I can run the MultiWii config and change values as I move the joy sticks. When I power it up the FCB led is lit and some of the props want to twitch. Any ideas were to start my analysis?

Did you calibrate the ESC throttle response? Did the motors spin without props? I'm not familiar with that FC, but it probably has a stick move to arm the motors? Also, did you do the calibration in the Multiwii config to get your levels at 1095-1500-1905?

just thinking of things that I ran into - I'm very new to all this too, and using a multiwii board.
