Heres the new Hexa carbonite frame that Mikrocopter US is offering on sale. I really like the center plates with built in saddles and the motor mounts with CF booms. Going to calibrate and test fly today. Will post more later. jamie :D

What is "Carbonite"? Google finds me no references to this as a material.

The guys that desiend the frame came up with the name. Its made by dupont and is some really strong material. Looks like its carbon/plastic/? mix but not sure.

Carbonite? That's the stuff they used to freeze Han Solo in Star Wars.

My guess would be a mix of carbon fibers and polycarbonate with a little rubber stuff mixed in.

I've been casually looking for such a resin that is moldable and machineable. It's perfect stuff for little Gummi Bear pilots.:)

So is this "Carbonite" stuff milled, moulded or printed?

Don't know about anyone else, but it seriously bugs me that they invent a silly name to conceal whatever the material is.

My guess would be Acetal, otherwise known as Delrin. If you've ever priced Delrin you know why the frame is so expensive, there's probably $200 worth (at least) just in the centerplate pieces. Probably called it carbonite because it looks like the stuff Han Solo got covered with in the Star Wars movie.

P.S. Moslow, have you checked the balance on those C/F props yet? I've had two different sets of six in my hands so far and neither set had a properly balanced prop in it...

That landing frame looks like it would get in the way of a camera - is that a problem?
