Which Radio Futaba 8J or Airtronics SD-10G

All, I currently have a DX7 and have come to the conclusion that I may need another channel in the future, as all of the channels are filled up in my 7 channel receiver. I fly MRs (I have gotten out of CP helis) primarily for AP, LOS, and use FPV as more of a view finder than for the immersion experience (although who knows, I may get a set of goggles).

I have been in the hobby for 3 years, and MRs for half of that. I have programmed a model in the 8J and flown with it. It is a fine radio, and has all the features I need plus many I don't now and probably won't in the future as I. I did find the radio a little small.

However the geek in me really admires the Airtronics SD-10G. Is there any reason from a MR / FPV perspective that the Airtronics would be a bad choice?

Please don't suggest the 8fg or DX8 or any of the other radios, as the budget is around $300. The Fr-Sky/
Turnigy, from what I read requires a significant amount of knowledge to get it set up correctly, and I am looking for an all in one system.

Thanks,

Why not a second hand 8FG, there is a few around at around the price you want to pay since the 14SG was released.

Pete, I thought about the 8fg, but I cannot see myself using all of the features it has. Also wanted new. I can't see increasing the fleet. If I decided to go with something different than the F450, I would migrate all of the equipment over to the new MR. The execption may be something like the Sting Ray when the pricing comes down and there are multiple vendors.

Having the programming options makes life a lot easier though, very configurable, really like my 14SG, just brilliant and I deserve the best or at least very good.

My choice is to use the best radios I can afford.

Anyway good luck whatever you end up doing,

Pete
