I can ONLY speak from MY build.....
I am going with a QUAD.
I know that I can learn to fly it/less expensive when replacing parts when crashing/can do FPV/can do AP............
Just my 2 cents worth.....remember programming your flight controller and then getting it into the air is NOT an easy thing to do to get it perfect. For some it may be, however, I have seen MANY folks struggle and try to understand just how the dang thing works. FOR ME the quad was an easy choice....less motors...less ESCs.....LOWER WEIGHT!!!.....so it just made sense for me!

It may give you some insight! Also look at the links I provided if you haven't done so.......you might find some insight into just what you want to achieve that I can't discern....
