What can I expect?

So I just got my new WooKong in the mail today (along with Avroto's & a new frame). I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to get started on the build. I'll be putting it on my XAircraft x650 frame for now.

What I'm wondering know though is what should I expect from this unit? It seems that in the past I have had one set of expectations of different units only to see them change as I had real world experience using them.

With this being the first system I've owned that makes use of an autopilot I'm wondering I will be be able to actually use the workflow I have in mind. Maybe I can describe it here and some of you that have WK-M units now can let me know if I'm off base or not.

Mostly I want to use this for AP. I have some very specific shots in mind and have even worked out how I "should" be able to get them. In particular, I would like to be able to fly out LOS to a location I have in mind and engage position hold. I would then switch over to an FPV view and use just the throttle to simply climb to the altitude I need for the shot while letting the GPS hold my position. I would then re-engage altitude hold when I got to the proper height so that I can frame my shot and deal with taking my photo. From there I would like to again use just the throttle to lower the craft down to a decent height where I would again change over to LOS flight. At this point I would turn off position hold and land the craft myself.

Do you think I will need to change how I want to do this? Is there any type of failure I should plan for if so? How locked in does the GPS get? Would I have to worry about losing sat links and needing to take over manual control of the craft again once I'm in the process?

Being a software developer, I always try to prepare for any kind of failure that could possibly present itself. Any help in pointing those possibilities out would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to build something that is as close to bullet proof as possible.

Thanks!

You can engage GPS/ATTI and fly to a position and the craft will hold that position as soon as you release the sticks. The altitude hold is vario depending on your throttle stick position. Lower the stick the craft descends. Center the stick, it holds. Same for raising the stick. The WKM is very easy to pilot. Right now I consider it pretty bullet proof as long as you do not use the battery monitor. I am not convinced that it works the way it is advertised. Just from my limited experience on two platforms. You will like it.
