Turbo Ace Matrix knock-off--what frame and motors?

I REALLY like the Turbo Ace Matrix but the price is prohibitive (unless I find a good deal on a used one, or win the lottery). I want to do AP with just stills, not video. I like the low-profile design of the matrix -- looks like a racer on steroids. See, I fly in the west Texas wind and Ive heard that the Matrix does well in wind. Also it has beefy motors and excellent long flight times. Therefore, I ask you experienced builders out there -- can I build something that comes close to a Matrix? As you may know it is a quad with 15" props. I need to fly solo FPV and shoot while in GPS hover.

For starters, what frame, arms, and motors would you use?

Happy Landings!

As far as I know, 3 things distinguish the Matrix:
1- It's big
2- The Arms fold so you can carry around a big frame
3- It has a front mounted gimbal that keeps the overall profile low.

What you might look at is a DiscoPro with the Aerial Mob extended arms.

Kloner used to contribute a of of good information to this forum, and he could recommend a good setup for the wind.

Hey JoeBob, thanks for the link and info. I went there and saw Kloner's work. Sweet. Learning about prop size, torque, rpm's, and motor ratings [smoke coming from ears].
