Training and Certification in the US?

Ok well nobody answered my last thread about training or certification near Pittsburgh I was just wondering if somebody can give me some websites of the places that do train and certify in the US?

Thanks!

There are six sites in the US for testing. Keep an eye on Multi Rotor Forums and something should show up. If I get any more info I'll pass it on. If your an AMA member you might check their site.

Nothing in the US that's official. There's a few places that will train you, but there's ZERO guarantee it will be recognized by the FAA later on.

The FAA has been 'working' on it since 2007. Only now have they implemented 6 sites to test what works, what doesn't work. Right now the FAA states it's illegal to fly a UAV for money. When digging deeper, it's actually legal, but the FAA will keep saying it's not since there's no certification programs that are recognized by them (and drones will bring the plague, next terrorism wave, etc...).

In about a month the FAA will knock everyone out, including hobbyists. After that we will start seeing some ridiculous laws being passed and extremely strict certification programs (that will probably cost a fortune too) that will eliminate most small business's and starts letting larger corporations in on this very filled pot of honey.

So yeah... living the American dream... :dejection:

I believe this is what CdA D; was referring to:

I posted this a few days ago: http://www.multirotorforums.com/showthread.php?23039-UAV-Systems-Certificate-Program-at-UNLV
Unmanned Aircraft Systems Certificate Program - I have yet to receive a reply from the instructor (just sent a second follow up request). When I get a reply I will post it there.

Is this the only one? I thought quadrocopter and some others did as well?

Means nothing as long the FAA doesn't give it a green thumb, and a ton of paperwork.

It's good to see that organizations are pretty much ready and waiting for the A-OK. It's just terrifying what kind of loops we will have to jump through at the beginning...

I did not mean to imply this is the only certification program - just that I had received an announcement for this one. From what I saw for 2015 it includes four classes: Ground School Training for Private Pilots, Privacy, Publicity & Defamation, UAS Design and Applications, and UAV Simulation & Testing. I do not know it there are other classes to get the certification. I will post to the thread above as I learn more.
