The things that they didnt tell me about Quadcopters

I thought Id put together a little noob faq on quadcopters, yes Im a noob lol.

1) Propellers come in 2 different designs some go clockwise others go counter clockwise.

2) There is a front to your quadcopter.

3) The motors on your quad go in different directions.

4) There are about 20 flight controllers out there.

5) People have made a DJI Tricopter.

6) The 2 images below saved my bacon.

8. It's not the gains. If you're using the default gains on a Naza and it won't take off, or it flies then crashes, it's NOT because your gains need adjusting, no matter the weight of your craft.

7. They are addictive and you will want more than one..... probably more than ten actually.

LOL, amen to that! At last count I had 18 in total out of which only a few were not in flying condition.

I did however actually sell one of my less used quads recently, I'll be in therapy for months over it... ;)

Racing multirotors are nothing like dji phantoms.
By comparison, phantoms are like tethered hippos. Not very graceful but controllable.
Racing quads are like lunatic squirrels. Zipping all over the place.

Actually I heard that this is not always the case. Some motors have 3 states and that doesn't work. Also I heard that your motor will die quicker.

Err... No.
The motors are basically three-phase AC-motors. You can switch the phases around any way you want, they run just as well anyway. The motors don't have any state at all.
