AerialMediaPros.com Skyline RSGS Gyro Working Well on new 1.2.2 Install Setup Tips and Test Flight VIDEO

Hey guys, I thought I would post here, Just in case it turns out to be helpful. Chances are it would get lost quick in the other thread with 100+ pages.

Here is a quick test at the shop. It is almost midnight here, so I tried to film next to the only source of Light that I could Find :) Definently not my best video, but it will give you an Idea to the Skylines new Firmware.

Skyline Test Flight Video

Here are a few tips that may help get you through the new instal of your Skyline.

Before messing with and downloading any Skyline software, you must have the latest Drivers to run the USB connector on your PC. Get that Driver here. http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx

Now Download the Manual for the Harness Modification, and read it completly before even downloading the software. Then Re-read it again before you start cutting wires. If you have the New Harness, then you can skip this step.
Wire Harness Modification Manual Here http://photohigher.co.nz/assets/Uploads/Skyline-Wiring-Modification.pdf

Now download the Install Manual, an read it Completley a couple times too. This will really help, and save a lot of time. Right when I thought I had a question, I re-read the manual and found the solution to the problem.
Get the Skyline Install Manual Here http://photohigher.co.nz/assets/Uploads/Setup-Guide-1.2.2.pdf

Now your ready to download the software. It is worth mentioning, the New Firmware is embedded inside the software, so there is no need to download a seperate file for firmware.
Get the Skyline Software (which includes 1.2.2 Firmware) Here http://photohigher.co.nz/assets/Uploads/SkylineSoftware2.4.zip

Follow the Steps in the Skyline install manual, and Update your Skyline to the new firmware.

For some reason My Skyline would not connect until it was powered up. So if your's is not connecting through just the USB, then power it up (6Volts or less) and then Click on the CONNECT button again. Mine worked perfect after that.
I am using a 6V Bec of a small 3S lipo. The 6v Power runs directly into my Transmitter Receiver. The Skyline gets power from the Servo wires from it, being plugged into my reciever that is getting power.

After Installing the new firmware, follow the directions on setting the level and using the Auto tune button. This went perfect. Make sure to click SAVE SETTINGS once you finish that step.

Once the auto tune completed. I Unplugged the USB cable, and then Cycled the power to the Skyline. Everything booted up and it leveled out. You cant imagine how happy I was to make it this far :)

I am using the Elevator on My Reciever for Tilt.

I was not able to get the pan to work from the Skyline. I am still waiting for a reply on that issue.

For now, I just plugged my Pan servo directly into the rudder channel of the Receiver. I set the Rudd Dual Rates to 15 and it seems to work pretty smoothly.

I would say that I am pretty dang happy with this new software. As you can see in the video, it holds horizon pretty well. There are a couple twitches here and there, but I believe those will be tuned out with the all the different gain settings. But for straight out the box, with no adjustments, It deffinently has a good starting point.

I will try to do an newer Video and Tuturial soon if time will allow. Hope this info helps get some of you off to a good start.

Take care,
Patrick

I think your results look great.

I gather thats raw footage? If so, I think this is almost ready.

All we need is Pan stabilisation.

Cheers
