silly noob question about fpv and camera

hey,

i'm toally new to building my own quad, currently i'm still in the planning fase and constructing a shopping list. (some review on that one would really be great too later on :) ).

But a probably silly (im not really a technical talent :) ) question for now, is it possible to have both a camera for fpv and one to record with, but have them transmit the feed at same time, or will both signals interfere with each other ?

thx for any insight you can offer

Hi Varney,

If you want to record you really want a camera that you can record on locally, a gopro or the like. Unless you spend a lot the video downlink doesn't offer a picture that's worth recording but is ok for fpv or monitoring.

But if you did want to go down that route you just need a RX that you can feed to a monitor and recorder or something like a Blackpearl monitor would give you an AV out that you could record, no trouble with signal interference.

hey,

thx for the answer,
ddint meant to record the downlink, i meant using the gopro to record but at the same time have it broadcast that to my screen so i know whats been recorded (i might be overseen something obvious)

Oh I see sorry. You can likely set the frequency of your tx/rx? If so no problem. I have two 5.8Ghz Immersionrc tx on one of mine and I don't have problems with interference.

ah thanks, thats answsers the question :)

if you don't mind, can i hijack my tread here for a bit, have another likewise nooby question,

- how does telemetric data gets send back to my tx? or what do i need for this to be possible ?

You need some sort of OSD (on screen display) unit that will overlay the telemetry onto the video signal. Not sure what system you're using but something like the DJI iOSD boxes do the trick.

Yes, I use the GoPro to record the video, and view the picture through a ten inch monitor on the ground. I use an Immersion TX, which also provides a lot of telementary data as well as the picture. I think most of the video transmitters out there provide telemetry info.
